(Damn, having a consulting firm sounds like a pretty good gig... Who wouldn’t love to get paid tens of thousands of dollars to help people lose elections.) 😂🤣

Operation Opposition Sign Waving was a success!

Saturday morning I stumbled upon Terri Kam and Shawnna Arns as they were going door to door near my neighborhood. I waved my sign from the street while they were talking to people.

Shawnna was NOT amused. She called the police–which was mildly upsetting–but not nearly as upsetting as describing me to the 911 operator as weighing 260 lbs. 260?!? I mean, I know I’m not as fit as I used to be, but c’mon, 260?

Anyway… Shawnna thinks I was paid by George Soros to protest against them, and one guy “probably would have voted for them” but he threw away his ballot. 😂

So it was a pretty fun morning, and I can’t wait to show off my sign again! 😁

THIS IS THE WHOLE POINT OF COMPREHENSIVE SEXUAL EDUCATION–the need for these topics is very much necessary! But Bart is so hung up on 5th-graders being “taught how to use a condom” (not true) and 10-year-olds being taught “different ways of having s*x” (again, not true), that he’s missing the major concepts in the curriculum.

This quote from Hillsboro School Board candidate Shawnna Arns highlights one of the major issues with the Senseless Schools slate of candidates: a lack of understanding for how educational laws and policies work.

For the uninitiated, even though she never actually uses the words, what Arns is referring to here is Comprehensive Sexual Education (CSE). Currently, parents can “opt-out” their children from CSE topics if they choose. What Arns is proposing is an “opt-in” process, whereby–presumably–parents would have to explicitly tell the district which lessons they want their children to participate in. Essentially, CSE wouldn’t be taught by default.

The problem is, there are actual laws on the books–voted on and passed by elected legislators in Salem–which mandate what content is taught in our public schools. Failure to comply with those laws would have consequences. State and Federal funding could be withheld, and students could face the possibility of not obtaining a State of Oregon High School Diploma.

The biggest problem with the Senseless Schools candidates is really that they don’t seem to know anything about how public education works. They’re not serious people. They don’t like s*x education, so they think they’ll just take over the school board and implement whatever policies they want. They’re behaving just like children who don’t get their way, and they’re out here throwing a tantrum, willing to break everything in the room, in an attempt to get the adults to just give them whatever they want–consequences be damned.

This makes it very clear. The Senseless Schools people want to impose conservative Christian views on our public schools. THAT’S their agenda, not education.

A few quick questions for Terri Kam: 1) You’re running for a non-partisan position–why does being a conservative matter in a school board election? 2) We have a separation of church and state in this country and religion is not taught in our schools–why does being a Christian matter in a school board election? 3) Schools do not provide abortions–why does being pro-life matter in a school board election?
