We'll be handing out copies of our annual flyer for the next couple of Saturday mornings. We appreciate your support!
-------------------------------------------------
The Hillsboro Ruritan Club is pleased to continue our trash service to the local community in 2026. We have had a number of inquiries from the community about the Club and the trash service. We’ve also learned some of our customers are unaware of what the Club does and what we do with the money you contribute when you drop off your trash. We’ve provide this flier as an answer to those questions.
The Hillsboro Club, established in 1990, is a member of the Ruritan National organization. Ruritan is a civic service organization made up of local clubs in urban areas, small towns and rural communities. Ruritan's purpose is to create a better understanding among people and through volunteer community service, make America's communities better places in which to live and work. The slogan of Ruritan is "Fellowship, Goodwill and Community Service."
We normally hold a monthly dinner meeting on the third Thursday of every month August. We meet at the Loudoun Golf and Country Club. We convene at 6:00PM for fellowship, followed by a meal. We also try to schedule a speaker from the local community on a subject of general interest. We’re always looking for new members, and anyone is welcome to attend one of our meetings. Just let us know if you’re interested. Contact information is provided at the bottom of this flyer.
Since we’re a small Club with only 17 members, we’ve tried to maximize our ability to serve the community through focusing on a few activities. We’re the charter organization for Boy Scout Troop 961, and we continue to sponsor and operate the trash service that you’re familiar with. All money we collect for trash goes to sustain the service and provide charitable donations. The table below summarizes our donations in 2025, made possible by members of the community who use our trash service.
Hillsboro Ruritan Donations, 2025
Scholarships for Loudoun Valley and Woodgrove High School Seniors $4000 Awarded based on a combination of factors including financial need and community involvement to seniors attending a 2-year community college or trade school
Local Charitable Organizations $3000 Help with funding community activities
Needy Families in Western Loudoun County $2000 Distributed at Christmas to assist with food and presents
TOTAL $9000
We’ve completed our annual planning and budgeting and hope to be able to continue to provide the same or greater level of donations in 2026.
We truly appreciate your continued support of our activities through your participation in our trash collection program. Please help us to grow by spreading the word to your friends and neighbors.
