Breaking economic and spiritual poverty FR purchases and remodels houses. Simultaneously we attract residents to the trades, teaching them job skills.

We provide class instruction and on the job training in the remodeling process, leading to full time positions in the trades. Through this overall process we teach and mentor life skills and a christian perspective of life and purpose. As a consequence, we offer affordable, desirable homes for rent and eventually sale, to these individuals progressing and obtaining employment, as well as to others. These men and women, residents of Franklinton, are learning the ways of the ultimate Carpenter.

✨ Looking Back on 2025. Looking Ahead with Hope. ✨

Because of God’s provision and your support, Franklinton Rising expanded in 2025 in powerful ways. We had the privilege of working with 35 young adults as apprentices, equipping them with construction skills, life skills, spiritual formation, and even helping several earn their driver’s licenses—a life-changing milestone for employment and independence.

🏗️ Milestones we’re celebrating:
• 5 apprentices graduated and secured full-time jobs in construction
• 3 female apprentices are pursuing college, including one future architect
• Certified by the State of Ohio as a pre-apprenticeship program
• Launched a 9-week skills course focused on math, reading comprehension, and communication

🏠 Affordable housing progress:
We are currently building four duplexes—8 energy-efficient, 3-bedroom units (4 handicap accessible). These homes will be rented in early 2026 at $300–$500 below market rate, prioritizing single mothers and others in need.

🔮 Looking to 2026:
• Over 45 apprentices in training
• 4 new construction projects in Franklinton and the Near East Side
• A major Columbus construction company has selected our program to help staff a large healthcare project

💛 Why support matters:
Apprentice payroll alone exceeded $150,000 in 2025. Grants and donations remain critical to continuing this work.

Happy Thanksgiving from our Franklinton Rising Family to yours! We are so grateful for all of the love and support that we receive from you all, and we can't wait to keep changing the lives of our Apprentices.

We have created a little Thanksgiving poem as a thank you -

"Each weekday morning, around 8 o'clock
A group of young people gather to talk a little shop

Donning hard hats and work boots, they are ready to work,
As their trainers and mentors plan the day's instruction, along with tasks no one can shirk

These are Franklinton Rising Apprentices, each one of their own person,
Ready to learn and be coached in home building techniques, of that they are certain

Developing construction skills and life skills, these young folks want to become pros,
And the pride of doing a good job while completing a house, now, that's a great feeling don't you know!

Growing in knowledge of our Lord and with prayers from sponsors and donors,
Franklinton Rising Apprentices graduate into full-time jobs - a blessing and an honor!"

We’re so proud to celebrate Carmelo as he graduates from the Franklinton Rising program! Throughout his time with us, Carmelo showed outstanding dedication, craftsmanship, and a true passion for learning.

Now, he’s taking the next step by continuing his education in HVAC while working in Columbus — a perfect example of hard work paving the way for a bright future.

Carmelo, your commitment and drive inspire everyone at Franklinton Rising. Congratulations on this incredible milestone and all that’s still ahead! 👏

Thank you to members of the Equity Construction Solutions (ECS) team for joining up with the Franklinton Rising team for a Saturday morning work session at one of our Affordable Housing build sites on the west side of Columbus.

ECS Foundation volunteers learned about the mission of Franklinton Rising as they worked alongside our Apprentices and Trainers on two, brand new, duplex houses that will be ready for occupancy in the next few months.

Franklinton Rising aims to break the bonds of economic, emotional and spiritual poverty by training young people in basic construction skills, life skills, and additional support in understanding God, man, and purpose in life.

We help them launch their careers with great local companies in the construction industry. We build energy efficient, beautiful affordable houses in the inner-city and rent them at below market rates. Our efforts help to build a skilled workforce in Columbus as well as providing new affordable houses is a catalyst for revitalizing Columbus communities.

We were thrilled to host the Columbus REALTORS Foundation Board at one of our Franklinton Rising build sites this week!

They presented us with a generous $7,000 donation that will go directly toward training young adults in the skilled trades and building new affordable homes right here in Columbus.

We’re so grateful for their partnership and shared commitment to empowering local youth and strengthening our neighborhoods.
