Meetings are held on the third Tuesday of every month (except for November and one summer month) at 7pm. We pride ourselves in giving our members unique, timely presentations on great local and international fishing trips, and educating our members on new conservation issues.

Moving Waters Trip — Location Change

Due to favorable river conditions, this month’s Moving Waters trip has been moved to the Poudre River.

After checking the river on Thursday, we found good flows and water temperatures on the Poudre, making it a great opportunity to take advantage of the current conditions. With Tomahawk SWA not fishing as well this year, we’ve decided to make the change and head to the Poudre instead.

Gill Trail Stewardship Day 2 — Keeping the Momentum Going!

Another great day on the Gill Trail is in the books!
Our volunteers were back at it, working alongside the RMFI crew to continue improving access and creating a better, more sustainable trail for anglers and everyone who enjoys Cheesman Canyon.

Day by day, section by section, we’re seeing the difference this project is making. From trail improvements to reclamation work, every shovel, rock, and helping hand is contributing to a healthier trail and a better experience along the river.

A huge THANK YOU to all of the volunteers who showed up, rolled up their sleeves, and put in the work. We’re proud of what this team is accomplishing together — and even more excited about what’s still to come!

💧 RIVER WATCH: HELP US KEEP AN EYE ON THE SOUTH PLATTE

Healthy rivers don’t happen by accident. They require people who are willing to show up, get involved, and keep a close eye on the water we all depend on.

Each month, members of the Cutthroat Chapter of Trout Unlimited participate in River Watch at Waterton Canyon, collecting water-quality samples that help us better understand and protect the health of the South Platte River.

River Watch is a great opportunity to get outside, learn more about our watershed, and play an important role in protecting the river and its trout.

Whether you’re a longtime volunteer or have never participated before, we’d love to have you join us!

🎣 What a Day at Lake Lehow! 🎣

Our Annual CCTU Picnic & Silent Auction was a huge success! We had an amazing turnout, with friends and members arriving ready for a great afternoon of fishing, fun, fellowship, and a little friendly competition at the silent auction!

The food was incredible, the weather couldn’t have been better, and Lake Lehow provided the perfect backdrop for bringing our CCTU family together.

A huge THANK YOU to everyone who came out, brought food, donated auction items, helped make the event happen, and supported the Cutthroat Chapter. Your enthusiasm and generosity are what make events like this so special.

Gill Trail Stewardship Day 1 — What a Great Start!

Day 1 of the Gill Trail Stewardship Project is in the books, and what a day it was!
The RMFI crew knocked out some fantastic work, improving trail access and creating better, more sustainable pathways for anglers and everyone who enjoys Cheesman Canyon. Our crew jumped in to help finish several reclamation areas and put in some serious sweat equity along the way.

There’s nothing better than seeing a group of volunteers come together, work hard, and leave the trail better than they found it. And if the pride in that final group photo is any indication, Day 1 was a huge success!

A big THANK YOU to everyone who came out and made it happen. This is conservation in action.

Help us improve the Gill Trail this Saturday, August 8!

If you've been looking for an excuse to escape the Denver heat, this is it. Join us in the beautiful foothills for a morning of trail work as we continue making improvements to the Gill Trail.

We'll tackle as much as we can based on the weather, and as always, many hands make light work. Whether you can stay for the whole event or just lend a hand for a while, we'd love to have you with us.

FYSA | CPW enacts voluntary fishing closures for sections of South Platte watershed, Clear Creek

DENVER — Colorado Parks and Wildlife’s Northeast Region is enacting a series of voluntary fishing closures due to low flows and high water temperatures. The closures will be in effect from noon to midnight in order to reduce stress on fish populations during the hottest parts of the day. List of voluntary fishing closure locations, effective immediately:

South Platte River (Dream Stream) - closed from Eleven Mile Reservoir inlet upstream to Spinney Mountain Dam. Current flows are 94 cfs (cubic feet per second), compared to historical average flows of 190 cfs. Water temperatures are reaching daily maximums over 73 degrees Fahrenheit.

South Platte River - closed from Spinney Mountain Reservoir inlet upstream to the confluence of the Middle and South Forks. Current flows are less than 10 cfs, compared to historical average flows of 170 cfs.

Middle Fork South Platte River - closed from confluence with the South Fork upstream to Highway 285. Current flows are less than 10 cfs, compared to historical average flows of 110 cfs.

South Fork South Platte River - closed from confluence with the Middle Fork upstream to Highway 285. Current flows are less than 10 cfs, and historical average flows are around 40 cfs.

Clear Creek - closed from Vanover Park in Golden upstream to Tunnel 1 Trailhead. Current flows are around 80 cfs, compared to historical average flows of 240 cfs. Water temperatures are reaching daily maximums over 73 degrees Fahrenheit.
