The Cutthroat Chapter proudly served as a volunteer sponsor for the City of Englewood’s Fins and Feathers event on Saturday, May 9, at Centennial Park.

At the CCTU booth, kids and parents had the opportunity to study live macroinvertebrates and learn the fundamentals of forming a fly-casting loop. Participants also enjoyed testing their fishing skills during the fishing derby and exploring the area on a guided nature walk along the water.

The event welcomed more than 50 attendees and featured participation from the City of Englewood, Colorado Parks and Wildlife, and other community partners, making for a fun and educational day outdoors for everyone involved.

Fly Fusion’s Trout Tour was a huge success thanks to Orvis Park Meadows and so many fans that came out to join the fun.

The films were just the thing needed to pump up the excitement for this year's fishing. There were films with stories about big trout (and one mythical creature), food, beverages, and friends. All the good things! The raffle benefitting our chapter capped it all off with great prizes.

Thanks again to the Orvis Park Meadows team of dedicated professionals that keep us outfitted and ready to get out there!

Our annual Earth Day Volunteer Project of 2026 was held on Saturday, April 25th hosted by City of Lakewood at Bear Creek Greenbelt Park. This year the weather started out chilly but then turned out perfect to support Earth Day activities along with the Lakewood community of over 100 volunteers strong. CCTU helped sponsor the event with a generous donation to purchase the native trees and plants that were planted by the community volunteers that morning. Volunteers planted over 1,000 plants including 44 native trees, 75 large shrubs and over 800 sedge, rush and grass plants along Bear Creek riparian areas and adjacent park lakes and wetlands. Afterward, volunteers were treated to a catered lunch from Moe’s Original BBQ at the shelter.

Our Chapter volunteers planted rooted willow cuttings and native plants including box elder, other willow species, various shrubs along with numerous grass plugs at two (2) riparian sites along Bear Creek.

CCTU would like to thank the Chapter and family members that came out to volunteer with the Lakewood community for their hard work at Bear Creek to accomplish this annual project.
