November 20th is Trans Day of Remembrance, with the week leading up to it, November 13-19, being Trans Awareness Week. Every year, numerous trans people are murdered in targeted acts of anti-trans violence, with Black trans women being at the highest risk. Check out , , . and (among countless others) to learn more about what you can do to help protect and create a safer world for trans and other gender non-conforming people.

Big News friends!! We are so excited to welcome Valor students to our first ever GSA, or Gay-Straight Alliance Monthly Meeting! The community has come together to support the creation of a safe space and offer the support that Valor has failed to provide for their students. Come and be part of our first meeting where we will work as a collective to establish ground rules, bring forward discussion topics for future meetings, and introduce the allies organizing with Valor for Change. St Andrews United Methodist Church has graciously agreed to host us at 3:45pm on November 17th. A zoom option will be available for discreet and secure viewing. Stay tuned for more big updates from our amazing team 🏳️‍⚧️🏳️‍🌈✨

‼️UPDATE‼️PROTEST HAS BEEN RESCHEDULED FOR NOV. 12

Please share this with friends and let them know the date of the protest has been rescheduled!! We can’t wait to see everyone there!

Community members and allies, join us at 5:00 November 12th on Grace Blvd, as we gather again in support of radical love.

Valor has failed to acknowledged our organization’s demands letter, which holds administration accountable for harm done and outlines specific action items to make Valor a safe learning environment for all.

As we continue to call on Valor to create a healthier community, we ask the community at large to step up on November 5th to amplify student voices that continue to go unheard!

Let’s gather peacefully as a community to love radically and protest the ongoing mistreatment. We will meet on Grace Blvd across from campus. Feel free to purchase a ticket to attend the game, and don’t forget your loudest pride attire as we hope to have a presence inside the stadium as well. Do not park on Cherry Hills or Valor property. Please bring your voice, posters, pride flags, water and incredible allyship!

“My name is Claudia Aguilar Rubalcava and I am a pastor at First Mennonite Church in Denver, Colorado. In my almost 20 years in ministry, I have spent much of my time ministering to the LGBTQIA community. It is there where I have found some of the most committed and faithful followers of Christ, and I have seen firsthand the harmful effects of non-affirming theologies, especially among youth. These effects go from low self-esteem to anger issues to self-harm or suicidal thoughts. Having at least one affirming adult can save a child’s life.

I pray that Valor changes their stances on the LGBTQIA community as part of our call to radical hospitality as followers of Jesus Christ, the One who welcomed us all.

-Claudia Aguilar Rubalcava, First Mennonite Church “

Claudia Aguilar Rubalcava and the First Monnonite Church remind and other followers of Jesus that we are to act in love and show radical hospitality to everyone, especially our q***r youth. Huge thank you to our amazing community leaders for speaking out against hate with Valor For Change!

Check out the website linked in our bio to read all of the amazing statements from community and religious leaders!
