Katherine Whitmore from the Christopher Falkel American Legion Auxiliary Unit 1260 has chosen her senior high school year project to showcase the arts at her high school and raise funds for veterans. If you can attend her Casa Caliente Mexican restaurant fundraiser in Highlands Ranch this Sunday, March 1 (anytime) to support her project - they will contribute 20% of the proceeds for attendees there for the veterans fundraiser. The Highlands Ranch American Legion Post 1260 and American Legion Auxiliary Unit 1260 held a memorial for Army Staff Sgt. Special Forces Soldier Christopher M. Falkel on Friday, August 8, 2025, with his parents in attendance, to observe the 20th anniversary of his passing. Members of the Highlands Ranch American Legion and Auxiliary are both honored to be named after this courageous Silver Star and Purple Heart recipient, a true talent and hero to all of us who died too young at the age of 22 in Afganistan, saving lives in battle.

The wonderful veterans from the American Legion Christopher Falkel Post 1260 In Highlands Ranch CO and the ALA Unit 1260 Auxiliary members enjoyed the Highlands Ranch 4th of July Parade. Highlands Ranch Auxiliary Unit 1260 Junior State Officer Katherine Whitmore held a Veterans Day Event at ThunderRidge High School where students volunteered after school to paint small flags to give out to veterans and had the opportunity to hear stories from area veterans. Thank you to Post 1260 Commander Joe Langran. Mr. Michael Whitmore Post 1260, Ms. Deb Davis Post 206 and District 6, and Mr. Lee Carpenter Post 1260 who all volunteered to share their stories of their time in the military. A friend in Austin, TX shared this with me from June 3, 2022. Southwest Airlines decorated the jetway for an honor flight of veterans right after my friend's flight. What a wonderful gesture and thanking Southwest Airlines for honoring our veterans.
