Highland Community Closet We strive to provide the essential items that help individuals and families regain stability and dignity. It’s as simple as that. Let’s lift each other up.

This is a community space built on kindness and connection. I collect donations from those who have a little extra and pass them along to families who could use a little support. I’m just one mom trying to help other moms and give back to the community we love. Whether you’re here to donate, pick up essentials, or just be part of something good, you’re welcome here.

❤️ SOME THINGS ARE EASIER WHEN YOU KNOW WHERE TO TURN.

Soup on the Square is about having a good day together. Eat some soup, shop around, let the kids play, listen to music, and enjoy the Square.

But while you’re there, you’ll also have a chance to connect with some pretty great resources right here in our community. ❤️

Apostolic Revival Church - Navigate Group will be joining us again this year!

Gina and her team will be there to share information, answer questions, and help people learn more about the support and resources available through Navigate.

And you don't have to be going through something right now to stop by.

Maybe you want to learn what's available in our community. Maybe you know someone who could use a little extra support. Or maybe you just want to meet some of the people doing this work locally.

We talk a lot about what gets donated to Highland Community Closet, but if you’re new here, you might be wondering...
Okay, but how do I actually GET something? 😂

It’s pretty simple.
Most of our available items are posted inside the Highland Community Closet Facebook group. If you see something your family could use, you can comment to claim it right there.

That’s it. ❤️

You don’t have to prove that you’re struggling. You don’t have to fill out an application. And you don’t have to donate something first.

If we have something available that would be useful to you or your family, please use the Closet. That’s why it exists.

And because everything depends on what our community has donated, what’s available is always changing. One day it might be kids’ clothes and diapers, another day it might be household itms, food, shoes or something completely unexpected. 😂

So even if you don’t need anything today, it’s worth being in the group and keeping an eye on what comes through.

❤️ SO... WHAT EXACTLY IS HIGHLAND COMMUNITY CLOSET?

We’ve had quite a few new people find our page lately, especially with Soup on the Square getting closer, so I figured this was a good time for a little introduction. 😊

Highland Community Closet is a completely FREE community resource.

People in our community donate things they no longer need, and we help get those items into the hands of someone who can use them.

And despite the word Closet in our name... it’s definitely not just clothes. 😂

Depending on what has been donated, you might see clothing for kids and adults, shoes, baby items, diapers, household essentials, hygiene products, food and all kinds of other things pop up in our group.

There’s no buying or selling.
There’s no requirement that you have to be going through a major hardship.
If something is available and it would help your family, that’s what it’s there for. ❤️

The easiest way to participate is to join our Highland Community Closet Facebook group, where we post available items and keep everything moving from one neighbor to another.

And that really is the whole idea behind the Closet:
If you have something you no longer need, pass it along.
If you see something your family could use, take it.
Keep it moving. ❤️

🥕🍲 ANOTHER SOUP HAS JOINED THE MENU!

And this one is a classic.

Mealtime Memories MicroBakery is making VEGETABLE BEEF SOUP for Soup on the Square! ❤️

Michelle and her kids were already coming with her homemade sourdough and freeze-dried candy, and now she’s adding a big pot of homemade vegetable beef soup to the mix too.

That means when you come out on November 7, you’ll have another completely FREE soup to try, loaded with beef, veggies and all that warm, hearty goodness that just belongs in a bowl on a November afternoon. 😂

And our soup menu is officially up to SIX different soups:

One month until Highland Square is filled with FREE soup, local vendors, kid vendors, live music, face painting, balloon animals, bounce houses, and a whole lot happening all in one afternoon. ❤️

And you guys... we have a LOT to show you. 😂

Tomorrow we’re sharing our ONE MONTH TO GO lineup, with everyone who’s officially joining us for Soup on the Square so far.

The soup makers.
The vendors.
The kids.
The community groups.
The entertainment.
The people helping make the whole thing happen.

🧷 WE COULD USE A LITTLE HELP STOCKING OUR DIAPER SUPPLY! ❤️

One thing that moves through the Highland Community Closet pretty consistently?

Diapers. Lots and lots of diapers. 😂

They’re one of those everyday necessities that families go through FAST, and having a few extra packs available at the Closet means we can help when someone in our community needs them.

So today, we’re putting out a little DIAPER CALL! 🍼

If you happen to be out shopping and would like to grab a pack for the Closet, we would absolutely appreciate it.
Open packages are welcome too! If your little one outgrew a size and you have perfectly good diapers left over, we can put those to use.

Every pack that comes through our doors goes right back out into our community to a family who can use it. ❤️

And as always, if YOU need diapers, please don’t hesitate to join our Highland Community Closet group and check in with us. That’s exactly what they’re here for.

And this one is bringing something completely different to Soup on the Square. 👀
The Copper Mortar is making POZOLE! 🍲❤️

They are already joining us as one of our vendors, but taking it a step further and making a big batch of pozole to serve completely FREE to everyone who comes out on November 7.

And with that, our soup menu is looking REALLY good:

Okay, we’ve got another soup to add to the lineup… and this one is bringing a little something different to the Square. 👀

Jennifer Korte is making TACO SOUP for Soup on the Square! 🌮❤️

And just like every soup at the event, she’s making a big batch to serve to our community completely FREE.

If you made it out to our last Soup on the Square, you may already recognize Grandpa Woody’s Honey! 🐝

Ashley will be back with us for Soup on the Square, and this time she’s bringing along her honey AND bee-themed goodies. 🍯💛

So while you’re making your way around the Square trying all that FREE soup, make sure you stop by her booth and see what she brought!

And listen... considering how much we love a good bee around here, you already know I’m going to have to check out those bee-themed items. 😂🐝
