REMINDER! Great event tonight!
Join us for our June speaker series event, HIDDEN TREASURES OF THE HUDSON VALLEY - VOLUME TWO
Presented by Author Anthony Musso
In this second volume of the "Hidden Treasures of the Hudson Valley" book series, the author uncovers another 55 sites located throughout an eight-county region that, while not mainstream tourist destinations boast intriguing ties to our nation's history. Some of the locales are located within plain sight while others are off the beaten path.
Learn about an ingenious underground distillery that was established during the prohibition era on a purported turkey farm and overseen by one of New York City's most notorious mobsters.
Several sites featured in the book are related to the American Revolution, while another served as the birthplace of the early American circus. The oldest private dwelling in upstate New York was built by a family who motivated the name of one New York City borough. And learn about one U.S. president's estate that receives minimal guests when compared to Franklin D. Roosevelt's Springwood in Hyde Park, Dutchess County.
