Hoby is a leadership program that has been participated in by current Optimist InternationaL (OI) leaders. Cheryl Brenn, our Executive Director, was Hoby trained as a student and then became Hoby employed for many years before coming to OI. You will see evidence of that Hoby influence at the Junior Optimist (JOI) Summit to be held at St. Louis University this month. Milford High School and Lakeland High School support strong JOI clubs, working to become service leaders in the future. Congratulations

🎣🐟 Join us for the Annual Optimist Youth Fishing Derby! 🐟🎣

The Optimist Clubs of Huron Valley, Waterford Township, and Keego Harbor are excited to host this FREE community event for local kids and families at Pontiac Lake Recreation Area!

📍 Pontiac Lake Recreation Area – Fishing Pier
📅 Saturday, June 13
⏰ 9:00 AM – Noon

🎣 Ages 6 & Under
• 9:00–9:30 AM or 9:30–10:00 AM

🎣 Ages 7–9
• 10:15–10:45 AM

🎣 Ages 10–14
• 11:00–11:45 AM

✅ Poles & bait provided
✅ Free event
✅ Great for beginners and experienced young anglers alike

Pre-registration is preferred, but walk-ins will be accepted until each group reaches capacity. Use the QR code on the flyer or email [email protected] to register.

This event is one of the many ways our local Optimist Clubs support youth in our community all year long, and we can’t wait to see families out enjoying a fun morning together at the lake! 🌞🐠
