Today makes one year since the week that almost took my life.

Between February 17 and February 26, 2025, my life changed in a matter of days.
Within that short period of time, my daughter’s father strangled me four different times…
and the last time he choked me until I was unconscious in front of my children.

Seven days was all it took for everything to fall apart.
Everything I thought I could hold together…
everything I thought I could fix…
everything I thought I could survive.

That was the week I stopped protecting him
and started protecting myself and my kids.

It still took me 19 days after the last incident
to go to the forensic nurse
and finally say out loud what had really been happening.

That was one of the hardest things I have ever done.

I went to the cops.
I told the truth.
And the life I had been living ended right there.

For a long time I stayed quiet.
Out of fear.
Out of confusion.
Out of hoping things would change.

But that week showed me everything I needed to see.

The last year hasn’t been easy.
Healing isn’t pretty.
Starting over isn’t easy.
Speaking up about abuse is one of the hardest things a woman can do.

But I’m still here.
Stronger.
Louder.
And no longer silent.

Today marks one year since the week that almost took my life…
and the day I chose to take it back.

And within 7 days, I’m going to talk about what the forensic nurse told me that night…
because those words changed everything for me.

Some stories take time to tell.
But I’m done staying quiet.
