The Wiser Way Animal Sanctuary and Farm

The Wiser Way Animal Sanctuary and Farm The Wiser Way is a family operated not-for-profit animal sanctuary with a focus on farm animals.

The Wiser Way Animal Sanctuary is a family operated not-for-profit located in Northeast Kansas. The Wiser Way's goal is to rescue, rehabilitate, and provide a loving forever home to as many farm type animals as possible. We currently have numerous horses, ponies, donkeys, mules, goats, cows, poultry, pigs, and an alpaca at the farm. A few of our future goals include providing education to the publ

ic about these animals, hosting meet/greet at the farm so more people can enjoy the animals and be impacted by their personalities and gathering resources to be able to provide safety nets for owners experiencing hardships.

This applies to any pet, not just dogs ❤️

This video is moving and beautifully written, but that grief isn’t always as pretty. It’s ugly, but some people are designed to endure and continue, and sometimes those people are blessed to rescue and provide sanctuary.

What's your go-to shoe for farm chores 🥾🩴👟?

I'll start 😂 BUT, this is kind of a lie…I usually rock Sketchers sandals, but let's be real, that's probably not any better.

Mornings are cold - fuzzy socks are needed.

Aldis is NOT a fan of fly spray 😂😂😂 He hasn’t mowed me over yet, but there’s a chance it may happen in the future 🤦🏼‍♀️

Northeast Kansas Animal Welfare Foundation has partnered with Home To Home® to help families with pets in our area. This interactive tool will give pet owners who can no longer keep their pets the opportunity to find new, loving homes without having to surrender them to the shelter. Pets can go from one home right into another, which means less stress for animals and humans alike. In addition, this offers potential new owners the opportunity to communicate directly with the current owners, providing firsthand information about the animals.
In addition to rehoming, the Home To Home® foster network directly connects pet owners who are seeking temporary housing for their pet with individuals who can open up their homes and hearts to provide short-term care until the pet can be reunited with its family.

Our elderly horses were turned out to the big pasture earlier this spring, with the plan to monitor their weight and place them back in smaller paddocks if they were not maintaining. These older horses typically require a soaked senior mash diet, and we had achieved a healthy weight with all of them. I was honestly nervous to turn them out and risk losing all that progress, but sometimes quality over quantity deserves the risk.

I am beyond thrilled at how well they are doing so far! It’ll be something we have to continue to monitor given the forage quality will change over time. I am happy they get to behave like horses and enjoy the freedom of a pasture and herd dynamic, if only for a short while.

The old feller pictured is 25+ years. Our horse herd currently includes three 25+, two 20+, and six less than 20 years old. We also have one young donkey, one middle aged sheltland, and two 25+ year old shetlands (although one may actually be a mini). The ponies are not as lucky, they remain on a dry lot as they have all dealt with laminitis issues.

The economy sucks, so I’ll be moonlighting as a hairdresser. Biscuit is one of my first victims, I mean customers 🤷🏼‍♀️

It’s probably a good thing he’s only 30” tall and slow as molasses. He puts on a show, but still likes cookies.
