Saturday was truly one of the most amazing and meaningful events.
It was a complete honor to host an outing for a childhood and family friend, Christie Beale, who has been courageously battling breast cancer and fighting for her life on so many levels.
One of the most enduring moments of the evening was listening to Christie give her speech. Surrounded by family, her children, and her devoted husband, Mike, it was impossible not to feel the incredible strength that comes from love. Their love for one another is truly something special.
But one moment that especially touched me happened after everyone had gone and was leaving.
Even after everything that had been done for them that evening, both Mike and Christie made sure that I was okay with carry everything out and that I didn’t need any help, that I wasn’t left with anything to take care of.
That moment meant more to me than they probably realize. To see their appreciation for the support of everyone who came together for them, while at the same time, they were still thinking about me and making sure I had nothing left to handle, spoke volumes about the kind of people they are.
What an amazing family. What an honor it was to be part of such a special day and to stand alongside them during such an important fight.
And with that, I leave you with this thought:
We all came together to help this family as they help Christie battle this disease. An entire village is standing behind her.
And on Saturday, that village showed up in a truly beautiful way. With so much power!
