Dear Kier’s Kidz Family and Friends:

A short note of thanks from a family that we (you and Kier’s Kidz) have helped during their struggles through their child’s war with cancer makes my day that much brighter. I hope it does the same for you.

This family wants all of us to know that they feel our compassion and our presence in their lives. They thank us for these emotional gifts and for the financial help we’ve given them to buy food and to pay off a bill. They looked around for help, and there you were.

Caring for one another is one of the greatest human achievements possible. Be proud of yourself for what you have done for this family.

Thanks.

Love and Peace,

Dear Kier’s Kidz Family and Friends:

First, let us remember all those who have fought to keep our country and us safe and democratic. We should especially remember those men and women who have given their lives so that we can be free and we can live in such a wonderful country.

Kiersten wrote an essay in her senior year of high school on her maternal grandfather’s service during World War II as part of a Memorial Day contest. Her grandfather served in the US Army during and after the war, attaining the rank of colonel for his hard work and bravery. Papa, as we called him, worked behind enemy lines in Europe to lay transmission lines and build cable outposts in preparation for the Allies’ invasion of France. He considered this extremely dangerous mission part of his duty to our country. After many close calls with enemy soldiers, his unit finished its work and evaded capture and death through the D-Day invasion.

Kier had a similar fighting spirit as she battled cancer. She did what she had to do to win her war and never complained about what that war demanded of her. The same is true for so many kids who have fought cancer for their lives. As is Papa and all the others who have fought in wars for our lives, Kiersten and these other young warriors are heroes to me.

So, today and every day, I hold all these heroes, known and unknown to me, deep in my heart with the love and the admiration that each of them deserves.

Love and Peace,
Larry Perfetti

Dear Kier’s Kidz Family and Friends:

Today, the 23rd of April 2026, marks the 18th anniversary of Kiersten Hickman-Perfetti’s death from a pediatric cancer. Our family is deeply saddened that Kier died. Kier had so much more life in her, as all who knew her would attest. Kier’s heart even continued to beat for two hours after she took her last breath. Kier had more to do in life.

Of all Kier’s dreams, perhaps the greatest was to help children and young adults with cancer face and beat their cancer and to help find a cure for all pediatric cancers. She had a mission she knew she would not live to complete. So, Kier asked us to fulfill her mission when she created Kier’s Kidz, our nonprofit that addresses that wish and that mission.

Kier would be proud of us, all of us who have contributed in any way to the success of that mission. She would love every single one of us. She would be happy for the children, young adults, and families we have helped. She would ask us to continue our work and to help find cures for pediatric cancers. And we will.

From the bottom of my heart, I thank each of you, our Board members, volunteers, and donors, for all that you have done to keep Kier’s dream alive in the help we have given to so many children and young adults who have fought their battles with cancer.

I also ask you to help a bit more by making a donation of any amount to Kier’s Kidz at https://www.kierskidz.com/ways-to-give/. What a wonderful way to celebrate Kier’s life.

Thank you all.

Love, Peace, and Health,

Dear Kier’s Kidz Family and Friends:

I would like to express our deepest gratitude and best wishes to the National Honor Society (NHS) students and staff of the Hun School in Princeton, NJ, for their hard work and generosity in raising and donating over $1,300 to Kier’s Kidz. Sanah Shah, a Hun School NHS student and a volunteer at Kier’s Kidz, deserves special thanks for encouraging her schoolmates to help Kier’s Kidz assist the kids and young adults with cancer in need in our area.

Hun School has an excellent reputation as an academic powerhouse in its 6th- to 12th-grade and postgrad schools. Clearly, the students there learn much more than academics. Their work on behalf of kids and young adults with cancer demonstrates emotional maturity and depth of empathy, underscoring the importance the school places on social development.

Congratulations to all Hun students and to the staff for all their accomplishments.

Once again, thanks to each of you and to the Hun School for your caring and for your donation. We hope to work with you again.

Love and Peace,
Dr. Larry Perfetti

Dear Kier’s Kidz Family:

Thanks to the guys at Kier’s Kidz at Williams College for hosting a pieing event to raise money for the kids and young adults with cancer in need of financial help. What an event. One day, I want to be there to take my turn at being pied with whipped cream. Whip cream, being my favorite source of protein (hah), is also my favorite food source.

The process is simple, as explained by the Williams College group. You buy plenty of canned whipped cream, some paper plates, find an outside venue that won’t be affected by whipped cream, invite the college crowd to join the fun, and then have people volunteer to get a plate of whipped cream in their face for a nominal fee. Being rough with one another is not allowed. Then, you pie the person who has volunteered until his/her piepals want to move on to another volunteer. And so on, until all the whipped cream is gone. The money you collect is donated to Kier’s Kidz in hopes that someday the kids fighting cancer will have their chance to play such a fun game.

Fortunately, the Williams crowd sent photos of this semester’s pieing event, which I share below for your amusement.

I want to thank each participant of this event. The students raised $663.

Love and Peace to all,
Larry Perfetti

No child should ever die of anything. In our country, the number 2 killer of children is cancer. We can do much better with the right mix of government support, great hospitals and docs, and donors who are motivated to stop cancer.

Best wishes for health, peace, and love to each of you and your loved ones,
Larry
