I just wanted to share a wonderful opportunity to play recorder virtually. The Highland Park Recorder society has a 2025 Online Seminar Seris in Early Music Performance.

Each of the seminars includes an historical lecture and an opportunity to play music that is sent in advance to all who register. Seminars are priced at $25 each. The Zoom sessions open at 7:15 P.M. EDT for a Meet and Greet, and instruction starts at 7:30 P.M. EDT. Bring you rsoprano, alto, tenor and bass recorders, if you you have them. Experience the Beauty of Early Music with the
Highland Park Recorder Society Consort Studio

The Highland Park Recorder Society (HPRS) is excited to present a Consort Studio, a celebration of Early Music that showcases the beauty and artistry of the recorder. Players of flute, violin, viola and cello are welcome to join us. This Consort Studio is part of our ongoing mission to cultivate an appreciation of Early Music with recorders. Study, rehearse, and perform with professional musicians.

We meet Saturdays, 1:00-4:14 P.M EDT. Join us at our Upcoming events:

Sat., April 26, G.Ph.Telemann, Trio Sonata in A Minor for alto recorder and oboe

Sat., May 24, G.Ph.Telemann, Trio Sonata in F for Alto recorder and violin

Sat., June 28, G.Ph.Telemann, Trio 8 in B Flat Major for alto recorder and harpsichord

Location: Reformed Church of Highland Park, 19-21 South Second Ave.,
Highland Park, NJ 08904. Ample parking in back via Magnolia St.

Fee: Participants: $30. Membership at $30 annually is generally required. The Membership requirement and fee will be waived for all who are attending for the first time to try this out. Fee: Auditors $15

Setting - Under canopies to protect from rain or sun
Program - Music of Renaissance and Baroque Masters for SATB Recorders, Harpsichord and Cello

Following the performance - an "Instrumental Petting Zoo,” for children to gently touch the instruments and try out some soprano recorders.

We are offering a Consort Studio on the 2nd Saturday of each month Jan-Jun:
An opportunity for intermediate and above level recorder players to learn to play in an ensemble under a skilled conductor, with professional accompaniment

Warm up on Renaissance music with SATB recorders

Focus on developing ensemble skills while playing a variety of Baroque literature for small ensembles

Be led by conductor, harpsichordist, and recorder player, Steven Russell (see below)

Learn though rehearsal, demonstration, and instruction.

Each session culminates with an option to play the lead alto part with a professional ensemble. Receive the music in advance.

Six sessions. Meet in Highland Park on the 2nd Saturday of each month, January to June, 1:00 – 4:15 PM with a 15- minute break

Parking is plentiful, and rides to and from the New Brunswick train station can be arranged if needed.
