Field Day 2026 was one for the books! 🎉

The 2031 CBO class kicked off their journey together with a fun-filled day of outdoor activities, meeting fellow Scholars and building connections that will carry them through the years ahead! It was a day full of teamwork, laughter, and new memories. It was the perfect start to the new school year. We can't wait to see all that they'll accomplish!

On August 5, 2026, CBO welcomed its newest class of Scholars at our annual CBO Orientation!

During this event, parents met with CBO staff to learn more about CBO, how families can stay engaged with our community, and the many ways they can support their children throughout their CBO journey.

Incoming Scholars also got to know more about CBO's programs, our staff, and what to expect as members of the CBO community. Together, we talked through the commitment, engagement, and expectations that will guide them over the next six years.

We're thrilled to welcome our newest Scholars and can't wait to support them every step of the way!

Debby Finn has been a dedicated and supportive mentor to Brenda, a freshman at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Before becoming a mentor, Debby spent years as a math teacher and later as principal at Highland Park High School, one of our partner high schools.

CBO is looking for dedicated mentors like Debby to guide and support our next class of Scholars.

This summer, 27 rising CBO freshmen — including Dayana, headed to Illinois State this fall — received their own laptops. Teens from lower-income households are 6x more likely to lack a computer at home than higher-income peers.

A few weeks ago we welcomed a college representative from DePauw University! Our students learned more about resources and all things college as they continue exploring their next steps. We are so appreciative of the college rep visits and for sharing your time and guidance with us.

We are thrilled to share that our Tees for Degrees event was a tremendous success — and it's all thanks to you! On Monday, August 3rd, more than 120 enthusiastic golfers, along with our dedicated sponsors and supporters, gathered at the beautiful Merit Club to honor our CBO Scholars and champion their bright futures.

Thanks to your generosity, our Scholars will receive essential support and opportunities to cultivate their confidence, character, and life skills to be successful in college and beyond.
