Today, we had the special privilege of surprising these wonderful ladies and gentlemen with multiple Christmas gifts each. At our local High Springs Community School, they serve nearly 1,000 students daily, between Elementary & Middle School for breakfast and lunch. They do an incredible job! We sincerely appreciate their efforts and wish them a Merry Christmas on behalf of DPCC and Deeper Purpose Community Charities, Inc!

We were blessed to serve 945 area Families for the month of November. This number includes:
✅Pantry Visits.
✅Thanksgiving Baskets & Bags.
✅$100 Grocery Gift Cards- went to 100 Families.
✅Friday Food Distributions at our resource center.
✅Hot Meals & Gift Cards to local restaurants.
✅Thanksgiving grocery distribution that we held.

We are incredibly thankful for all of the support that we receive & grateful for those that donate monetarily to us, as well as, those that donate food.
Bread of the Mighty Food Bank, who we have a contract with, we are so appreciative of all that you do for us!

We will continue to serve our Communities with a Deeper Purpose. We want to ensure that all families in our community have the food that they need in their homes & that no one has to worry where their next meal is coming from. Not everyone is food insecure, but life happens & any one of us could be next. We must support our families & neighbors as much as we are able & realize that every little bit truly does help!

As thousands of our residents face rising food insecurity due to disruptions in their Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits, the County Commission has taken immediate action to help Alachua County residents enrolled in the program meet their basic needs.

Earlier this month, commissioners approved $200,000 in emergency funding to expand food distribution across the county, with half of the funds targeted for providing fresh fruits and vegetables. The county is utilizing multiple resources to distribute this food to families in need.

One distribution tool is working with six family resource centers to distribute fresh produce from Frog Song Organics, a farm in Hawthorne that offers about 80 types of fruits and vegetables. Frog Song Organics is also sourcing produce from other farms.

The resource centers will distribute this produce on various days throughout the week.

All food will be given out on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last.

In addition to working with the resource centers, two farmers markets—Grove Street and High Springs—will also receive county funding to help Alachua County SNAP recipients access fresh foods. Alachua County SNAP recipients are eligible for up to $25 each to spend at these two markets. This is an addition to any November SNAP benefits that have already been received.

This funding is only available to residents of Alachua County. Proof of residency will be required.

“Working with our local family resource centers, local farms and farmers markets for food assistance at this critical time is a strategic investment and a win-win,” said County Commissioner Anna Prizzia. “We are bolstering our local food economy, providing fresh, nutritious food and building collaborations to increase food security for Alachua County.”

Stay tuned for information on food boxes containing non-perishable items that will be distributed through resource centers and other sources in collaboration with Bread of the Mighty Food Bank.
