A Final Note from our President Angel Coleman
Dear Kiwanis Family,
As I sit down to write my final newsletter note as President of the Kiwanis Club of High Point, I find myself filled with so many emotions—gratitude, pride, joy, and a little sadness that this chapter is coming to an end.
Serving as your President has truly been one of the greatest honors of my life. I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to serve alongside such an amazing group of people who have welcomed me, supported me, challenged me, encouraged me, and most importantly, treated me like family.
When I became President, I knew I was joining an organization committed to serving our community. What I did not fully realize was just how much family would become a part of that experience. Kiwanis has never felt like simply a club to me. It has become a place where friendships have grown, where we celebrate one another, where we show up when someone needs us, and where we come together with a common purpose—to make a difference.
Being able to call myself a proud High Point Kiwanian is something I will carry with me for years to come. I am proud of the work we have accomplished, but even more proud of the people I have had the privilege of doing it with.
Together, we have served children, families, seniors, schools, organizations, and so many others throughout our community. We have given our time, our talents, our resources, and our hearts. We have supported organizations through grants, participated in community projects, celebrated our young people, welcomed speakers who inspired us, and found ways to make a difference—even when the difference seemed small.
But the truth is, those small acts add up.
Every scholarship, every volunteer hour, every fundraiser, every encouraging conversation, every child we have helped, and every organization we have supported represents what Kiwanis is all about. We don't just talk about making our community better—we show up and do the work.
And we do that work together.
One of the greatest lessons this year has taught me is that leadership isn't about standing in front of people. It's about standing with people. It is about listening, encouraging, serving, and sometimes simply rolling up your sleeves and getting to work.
I have been blessed to serve with people who understand that.
To my fellow Kiwanians, thank you for trusting me to lead. Thank you for your patience, your ideas, your laughter, your encouragement, and your willingness to jump in when something needed to be done. Thank you for allowing me to be authentically me throughout this journey.
There were meetings filled with serious conversations, events filled with hard work, and plenty of moments that made us laugh until our sides hurt. Those are the memories I will treasure most.
As I pass the presidential role to the next leader, I do so knowing that the heart of this organization is not found in the title of President. It is found in the people who continue to show up year after year and say, "What can I do to help?"
That is our Kiwanis family.
And while my year as President may be coming to an end, my commitment to Kiwanis and to the High Point community certainly is not.
I will continue to serve. I will continue to advocate. I will continue to show up. And I will continue to proudly wear the title of High Point Kiwanian.
Thank you for allowing me the privilege of serving as your President. Thank you for allowing me to be part of this incredible family. Most of all, thank you for reminding me that when good people come together with good intentions and willing hearts, we can accomplish extraordinary things.
I leave this presidency with a full heart and an even greater appreciation for the organization I have been fortunate enough to call home.
Once a Kiwanian, always a Kiwanian.
With love, gratitude, and tremendous pride,
Angel Coleman
