This National Children’s Day, Overture joined hands with IBESR and members of the GTPE-Sud in southern Haiti with a shared goal: ensuring that every child grows up safe, valued, and protected.

Through community events across southern Haiti and at the Child Protection Complex in Les Cayes, children learned about their rights. Parents and teachers came together to strengthen protection for the most vulnerable. Local leaders stepped forward to build lasting child protection and parent committees. And communities declared with one voice that every child deserves to grow up safe, valued, and surrounded by hope.

In May, we were honored to welcome Vanessa Frazier, United Nations Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Children and Armed Conflict, to the Child Protection Complex in Les Cayes, Haiti.

Her visit was a powerful moment of encouragement and hope as she witnessed firsthand the efforts being made to protect and restore the lives of vulnerable children impacted by violence and instability in Haiti. Together with partners, government leaders, and child protection advocates, we remain committed to creating pathways toward healing, dignity, family reintegration, and long-term restoration for every child.

Ms. Frazier’s visit reinforces the urgent need for coordinated action and continued investment in child protection, rehabilitation, education, and economic empowerment opportunities for Haiti’s children and families.

At Overture International, we believe every child deserves safety, love, and the opportunity to thrive within a family and community. We are grateful for this meaningful visit and for all those standing alongside Haiti’s children during this critical time.

Can you imagine a childhood overshadowed by silence and fear? Every child deserves the chance to grow up safe, loved, and protected within a strong family. Because stronger families mean safer, protected children.

As Haiti prepares to celebrate National Children’s Day, our Haitian team is working hand in hand with IBESR, local community leaders, child protection partners from the GTPE-SUD, and families. Together, we are championing this year’s powerful local theme: “Breaking the Silence, Rebuilding the Future: For a Free and Protected Childhood.”

Thanks to your unwavering support, we aren't just addressing immediate needs - we’re equipping communities with the tools to create lasting change. Child protection is at the heart of everything we do. A strong family is the foundation for a safe, nurturing environment where children can thrive.

This past week, across the South Department, we’ve already seen incredible progress:
📍 Côteaux: Reached 8 schools with awareness programs and laid the foundation to create a local Protection Committee with community leaders.
📍 Chardonnières: Sparked critical community dialogues on how to best protect vulnerable children.
📍 Les Anglais: Empowered teachers with safeguarding strategies and established new community-based reporting networks.

And this is just the beginning. These activities will continue in the coming weeks, reaching more communities and empowering more families to protect their children. By breaking the silence today, local leaders are paving the way for a brighter, safer future where families are not just survivors but champions for their children.

This week feels especially meaningful, and we want to share why. Something powerful is happening that echoes our mission in Haiti. Right now, the Bible is being read aloud from beginning to end in Washington, D.C., through America Reads the Bible - a public declaration of God’s Word and a reminder of truth and hope.

This historic event is a perfect opportunity to share the faith that drives Overture’s Haiti Promise. Our mission to protect children and empower communities isn’t just strategy - it’s faith. We believe Haitians are capable and worthy of building self-sufficient futures.

When a child arrives in crisis, we don’t just ask, “How do we respond today?” but “How do we walk faithfully with this family toward true healing?” Strong families create strong communities, and strong communities will transform Haiti.

This is why our Haiti Promise is so important. It is more than a commitment to give. It is a promise to stay. A promise to trust God in the long work of restoration and transformation. A promise to believe that children belong in families, that families can be strengthened, and that Haitian communities can flourish.

In His ministry, Jesus continually affirmed the worth of children, reminding us that they are deeply valued and fiercely protected.
