Virginia Yarborough, one of our charter members, passed away on November 13. Her funeral is Nov. 17, 3 p.m. at Fairfield United Metodist Church, 1505 NC Highway 62 West, High Point, NC. Before she moved to Kannapolis after the death of her husband, Virginia was an active member of our guild, especially contributing to our charity quilt program. Those of us who shop Pineapple Fabrics sales, remember her smiling presence there.

The family has asked that in lieu of flowers, memorials in her name be sent to The Gideons International, PO Box 171, Laurenburg, NC 28353.

The family will receive friends from 2-3 p.m. before the funeral service.

In January 2012, the High Point Quilt Guild held their first meeting. Thirty-seven people joined the guild. On April 2, we held tenth anniversary celebration at our original meeting place, Westchester Baptist Church. All guild members -- past and present -- were invited to join us for a time of fellowship. Everyone was asked to bring five quilts. We spread these quilts out in the sanctuary and had a massive show and tell. There is so much talent in our group! Photography by William Fields.

We have a new meeting location! Beginning with our April 14th meeting, we will meet at Northwood Community Center, 2409 Ambassador Court, High Point. This is right off of Eastchester (and there is a traffic light there, making it super easy to turn right or left). The parking lot is across the street from the fire station, and we have permission to park on the grass if the parking lot is full. The new location is full of great lighting, tables, chairs, and a commercial kitchen. There are no steps, giving us great, easy access.

I had a chance to Zoom with Linda last month so I could make sure our Zoom set-up was good with her. She talked about her presentation "10 Quilters You Should Know." This is gonna be good! I am super-excited about this meeting. The link to the meeting will only be in the email, not posted to our Facebook or webpage.
