To everyone who participated in the 2025 Promise Walk Wherever, whether you walked in your neighborhood, organized a local team, or supported from afar, thank you. This year’s walk season has been nothing short of monumental, and it’s all because of you, our passionate and dedicated community.

We are especially grateful to our tireless walk chairs, whose leadership made each walk possible, and to every supporter who helped raise awareness and funds to combat preeclampsia and HELLP syndrome. Your efforts are saving lives and making a difference.

This year’s Honorary Chair, Traci Stumpf, shared a message that truly captured the spirit of this season:
“Tomorrow, we may be walking in different cities and towns across the country, but together we are united in one powerful purpose: to raise awareness, inspire hope, and move closer to a cure for preeclampsia and HELLP syndrome... Each mile we walk and every dollar we raise represents hope, healing, and the belief that together we can make a difference.”
But the season’s not over yet!

We still have September Promise Walks coming up, and we’d love to see you there. Whether you're joining for the first time or walking again, there's still time to be a part of this incredible movement. There's also time to host your own Promise Walk Wherever between now and the end of the year! Let’s keep walking, keep raising awareness, and keep showing up—for moms, for babies, and for a future free from preeclampsia.

July is Postpartum Changes Awareness Month—a time to remember that your pregnancy journey doesn’t stop after childbirth. The weeks and months that follow bring real physical and emotional shifts, and they deserve just as much attention. As a preeclampsia, eclampsia, or HELLP syndrome survivor, you have health risks beyond pregnancy, and you are your own best advocate.

As a first step, download our "My Health Beyond Pregnancy" or "Mi Salud Después del Embarazo" printable worksheet to start the conversation with your primary care provider.

Understanding what’s happening in your body can make the transition into this new chapter smoother and more supported. It can also be an important step for your future health and the health of your family. It’s more than okay to ask for help or carve out time for yourself. Caring for you is part of caring for your baby.

Serving as a Promise Walk Chair for two years has been a profoundly empowering experience that has enabled me to drive meaningful change. The Promise Walk for Preeclampsia events offer a powerful platform for families to connect with the Foundation and others who share similar experiences, fostering a sense of community and support. By participating in these walk-a-thons, we can raise vital funds and awareness for preeclampsia education and research, ultimately creating a brighter future for those affected. Every day, hundreds of families face the unexpected diagnosis of preeclampsia or HELLP syndrome, and our collective efforts can provide them with hope, guidance, and a sense of connection. As a Promise Walk Chair, you have the opportunity to bring this transformative experience to your local community, cultivating a culture of awareness, education, and support. Will you join us in this mission to create a better tomorrow for families affected by preeclampsia and take the first step towards making a tangible difference?

Pregnancy is an ideal time to get familiar with your blood pressure, understand your normal numbers, check it regularly, log your readings and share it with your provider, especially if you have high blood pressure readings.

Less than 140/90: Keep checking your blood pressure and learn what your normal is
Between 140-159/90-109: Call your provider and ask what they would like you to do
More than 160/110: Go straight to labor & delivery or the emergency room. Report that you are pregnant or recently gave birth and ask to see an obstetrician

Note: a blood pressure reading of 10-15 above your normal baseline is also cause for concern.

Eclampsia (e-CLAMP-si-a) is a very serious complication of preeclampsia characterized by one or more seizures during pregnancy or in the postpartum period.

Preeclampsia means "before eclampsia (seizures)". Eclamptic seizures usually occur as a later complication of severe preeclampsia, but may also arise without any prior signs of severe disease. It's important to note that eclampsia can occur during pregnancy or the postpartum period, even without warning signs.

Report to your care provider if you experience symptoms of severe headache and visual changes like spots, floaters, or difficulty seeing during pregnancy or the postpartum period, as these may be indications of high blood pressure and changes to your central nervous system. Familiarize yourself with all the signs and symptoms of preeclampsia, as any may indicate the presence of high blood pressure.

Learn more about eclampsia here: https://www.preeclampsia.org/what-is-eclampsia

Eclampsia is a very serious complication of preeclampsia characterized by one or more seizures during pregnancy or in the post-partum period. In the developed world, eclampsia is rare and usually treatable if appropriate intervention is promptly sought. Left untreated, eclamptic seizures can result....
