FYI, something I have believed since day one when I started Fishin with Special Friends and why I set it up a certain way. I do NOT care if it is 1 or 100 people show up, the only thing is important that EVERY SINGLE ONE with their families and the VOLUNTEERS leave with a SMILE ON THEIR FACES. When you place a volunteer with every single special needs person that comes that creates a bond between each of them and their families. SOMETHING everyone will cherish for YEARS. Yesterday one SPECIAL PERSON was at that event, Austin. The last time I saw him was at my son's funeral and he was crying. I talked to him then and helped him and myself get through it. When he came yesterday I wanted to make sure HE WAS OK and he told me he was doing better. Then he asked how I was doing? BOY did that one hit me and I almost cried. But that is my point THAT IS A MOMENT I will remember until the day I leave this place. SPECIAL FRIENDS is here to create MOMENTS and SMILEs. I hope over the years there has been a lot of them. I hope to see you this fall and LET's CREATE A LOT OF THEM

Today was the big day, and OUR ANGEL for this tournament did me the BIG FAVOR I ASKED, NO RAIN. He did however have a little laugh as I forgot to ask for WARMER WEATHER. The numbers were very small but still while cold everyone had some fun and shared smiles and memories. I did NOT cry, came close. Austin Lynlee did win FIRST PLACE with over 4 fish caught today, He had the magic touch. We also enjoyed pizza as well too. We will do this AGAIN in October and hopefully have a BIGGER crowd, warmer weather and no rain. I put the order in today. THANKS FOR EVERYONE WHO ATTENDED.... see you again in October and for the 15th anniversary in November at Johnnie Mercers Pier Fishing Friends

Today is the big day, Fishin with Special Friends at Lake MacIntosh, Alamance County. I know it is going to be a GREAT DAY to put on SMILES on PEOPLES FACES as now we have a NEW SPONSOR, an ANGEL in HEAVEN my son Max III. SO LETS HAVE SOME FUN N THE SUN AND MAKE SOME NEW and RENEW FRIENDS.

Tomorrow is SPECIAL FRIENDS at Lake MacIntosh in Alamance County. the weather was going to be RAIN. So I asked Max III for a little help with the weather and he moved the rain away. So if you are bored come on out. The event up here is still small but it is growing and later Nov 1st is the one at the coast which IS pretty good size. But whether it is 1 or 101, that 1 smile or 101 is worth every penny and moment I spend with it and I know the volunteers know that too. Cause what better way to spend a few hours on one or two days a year, to give your heart and love to one of God's Angels on Earth.

Wanted to give everyone a little insight on Fishin with Special Friends. I came up with this event 16 yrs ago and have done it every year except one year where COVID stopped us. The reason THIS EVENT was so special to us was because my son was special needs also. I had the idea then I had to find the PLACE. the place was Johnnie Mercers Pier Fishing Friends and a man named MATT JOHNSON the owner. I scheduled an appointment with him for a 2 hr meet to talk him into it. 3 minutes into the conversation Matt said STOP STOP STOP. You got it. This man has a TREMENDOUS HEART and as the years went by I got to meet his WIFE, COURTNEY who is also TREMENDOUS PERSON along with their children. Also the STAFF of the pier is also TREMENDOUS giving us everything we need for the event and MORE. They too give their heart. We also have TONS OF VOLUNTEERS that come out and give their time and their heart each time to these SPECIAL FAMILIES, as we do ONE ON ONE with our volunteers as we want EVERY EXPERIENCE PERSONAL. And we also have a lot of sponsors some for many many years that help out with the funds to cover the costs of the event. But no matter the cost I tell folks just look at the pictures, see the smiles from folks that have a tremendous burden every day of their life and PUT A PRICE TAG on something PRICELESS. That folks is the HISTORY and now one other point. My son was the inspiration of this event and I look forward every year to do it. This year I HAVE TO DO IT. Max III, my families LIFE, passed away on April 14th 2026. And TO HONOR the fight he gave all his life, my family will CONTINUE to do this event as long as possible because there are OTHER FAMILIES that need this too. SO if you see an old fart start crying, dont worry about Max III is in a better place and I am crying for joy that we are still able to BRING SMILES, make and RENEW FRIENDSHIPS this YEAR.

There is a chance of rain this Saturday HOWEVER, it is now dropping down in percentage, we do HAVE A COVERED area. and push comes to shove we will have a PIZZA party and reschedule it in the fall. But I have asked Max III to help with the weather on Special Friends here and at JMP as he can maybe help a little with the weather

We wanted to thank all the prayers, personal messages, public messages and donations to the gofundme to everyone. Max III will still be with us at Special Friends spreading his new wings but free of all the restraint of a lifetime. REST IN PEACE to all of us but for Max III BE FREE and SOAR LIKE AN ANGEL.
