1996-97 Cynthia Young; Meet the first woman to lead the National Big Hat Club and in 2000-01, she made history once again by becoming AMBUCS' first female National AMBUCS President, further cementing her place as a trailblazer!
During the 75th National Convention she was presented her Black Hat aboard the Ecstasy.

We wanted to recognize some memorable highlights from your time as Big Hat President during 1975–1976. You never missed a meeting during your tenure, a remarkable example of dedication and commitment to the organization.

Your presidency also coincided with a few notable Big Hat records. Earl Dennett, standing at 6'10", was the tallest Big Hatter, and Gary Unruh wore a size 8 1/4 Stetson—the largest Big Hat that actually fit a member.

Thank you for your leadership and for helping create such a memorable chapter in Big Hat history.

How It Works:

The auction will be hosted on Zeffy Auctions, making it easy to participate from anywhere. A direct link and QR code will be shared before the auction opens.

During the preview period, you can browse the catalog and plan your bidding strategy. Beginning August 15, you'll be able to place bids on your favorite items. The first time you bid, you'll create a Zeffy profile by entering your contact information and payment method. After that, any additional bids will automatically be linked to your profile.

If you're outbid, Zeffy will notify you by email and/or text, giving you the opportunity to jump back in and increase your bid.

When the auction closes, winners will be notified immediately, and Zeffy will securely process payment and send a receipt.

Getting Your Items:

Each auction winner will be contacted after the auction closes to coordinate pickup or delivery of their item(s). Logistics will be handled on a case-by-case basis to determine the best option for both the donor and the winning bidder. If shipping is needed, shipping costs will be provided before the item is sent.

A New Way to Support the Big Hat Club:

This online auction is completely separate from the traditional Big Hat Live Auction and will feature its own exclusive items. It's a new opportunity to raise funds, engage more members, and give those who can't attend the National Conference a chance to participate.

The traditional Big Hat Live Auction will still take place during the Big Hat Luncheon at the National Conference in Myrtle Beach and will remain exclusive to Big Hatters.
