Not the best of days at Touch of Grey Animal Sanctuary.
Waiting on our Equine Vet to see Greyson for an asthma attack that doesn't want to release and for Moon who showed up lame this morning.
My son took Echo in this morning, Tinley's sister to help her cross over this morning. She has been off and on for several months. I will post more on her when I can. 💔 We are grateful for the help we received from another nonprofit to care for her medically. Despite working 7 days a week we are still unable to afford these emergencies. We will know more soon. Positive thoughts and prayers please.

Update on Tinley
Her blood work showed she is in renal failure. We have started her on daily subQ fluids and a few other supplements. Tinny is taking this all in stride. This is what we do at Touch of Grey Animal Sanctuary. Caring for our seniors is our privilege. We would appreciate any help you can spare. Thank you and keep Tinley in your thoughts and prayers.

We've had several days of needed rain so we can't complain. But seriously, the only one truly enjoying it is George. We changed his name from lonesome George to handsome George. He seems to be getting along swimmingly (single) with the pot belly pigs as backup companions.🦆❤️

Sure they're cute. But not innocent. You can see what they have done to the recliner. I gave up years ago on having nice things. Benji, Pippin and Ella. All living lives of leisure. 😇

Some sad news from Touch of Grey Animal Sanctuary. We had to say Goodbye to Shadow, the Boston Terrier we took in last year when his owner went into Hospice. He was an older fella and started having siezures a few months ago. His little girl he grow up with who is now a young lady took him in to the Vet then and the medications were working great. Over the holiday weekend we think he had a stroke and altho he was doing ok his mind was not well. We called his owner and asked them to make a disision no one wants to make. On Monday Shadow crossed over. I have been waiting to post this thinking the family may want to post first but they have not. We were happy to have Shadow with our pack for the last year and we miss him! RIP Shadow.

We took another Box Turtle into a Veterinary Hospital for an ear abscess today.
No pictures.
Not sure how they keep finding their way to me but I am happy to help them. 🐢❤️

AJ has decided the rules do not apply to him. He is a master escape artist, slipping through fences with the greatest of ease. Since he is a really chill guy the miniature horses don't seem to mind sharing their space.
AJ also considers himself a mustang with Moon being his girl. For that reason I'm confident he won't leave the herd.
What do you do with one that won't be contained?

Many rescues are feeling the panic of this drought. Normally by now farmers should be getting ready to cut hay but most have nothing to cut. Last year's hay is dry and yellow, much like straw. Even that is hard to find and ridiculously expensive due to shortages. We at Touch of Grey Animal Sanctuary have increased our soaked pellet feedings to keep our equines bellies full. We are also buying bagged hay(expensive) to supplement the lack in the year old hay and adding more supplements. Even our grass fields are not growing as they should.
All of these extras to keep afloat are overwhelming to a budget that is already squeezed dry. Quitting on my family is not an option as I will keep them safe and cared for as long as the good Lord allows. These are problems that can be solved with more support. I applied for 8 Grants this year and all were denied. Being a small fairly new to the nonprofit world sanctuary is difficult. It's basically just me doing all the social media stuff and since the accident in February I have been well... Down. I got a good doctor's report yesterday although I have lost a lot of weight. Stress is heavy.
