What a wonderful trip, time of fellowship and interacting with the homeowners as we labored in love together to build a wheelchair ramp (quite impressive I might add!) in Spruce Pine.

We have a new team serving this month!

Here are Green Street’s dates for the Baptists On Mission Disaster Rebuild trips between now and end of the year.

July 23-25: Burnsville
August - no trip
September 17-19: Spruce Pine
October 15-17: Hendersonville
November 12-14: Burnsville
December 10-12: Hendersonville

Did you know senior adults are a growing population suffering from food insecurity and you know that we all need to have a friend and to be encouraged! And, it’s never too late in age to know hope!

On Wednesday, June 24th, we’ll pack food bags for them at 9:30am and at 10:30am we’ll decorate & prepare to serve them lunch. We’ll share a program too before we play bingo. (The actual luncheon is 12-2pm.)

💚 love for the city

Thankful for your going, giving and praying, Green Street! We visited with Little Rock Creek Baptist in Bakersville today.

We shopped at Walmart to help their Food Pantry, which was bare, and supply food for their Community Meal.
🗓️ We’ll return this Wednesday, June 17 to bring more food for their pantry and help serve the meal.

We were delayed in Walmart with people sharing stories of struggle and suffering while also giving cash to help us with the food purchases. As shared in the video, western NC will be recovering for years to come and we are dedicated to loving our neighbors.

👉 If you aren’t serving at VBS, you’re welcome to join us on Wednesday, June 17 or next month, July 15, to both help with the Food Pantry (shopping & arranging stock) and at their Community Meal.

👉 We’ll go back Friday, July 31 to serve at their VBS Celebration then, on Saturday, August 1, we will have a Backpack and School Supply Giveaway at their elementary school.

💚 Today, we met with the pastor, dedicated church members and the associational missionary who recently retired from serving 43 years in law enforcement. What a blessing to see them loving their neighbors. It rained hard at the end of service and the pastor escorted the senior adults to their cars. We couldn’t help to tear up thinking about the pain that rain may bring to some as they recount the hurricane but God knows and continues to draw near and, as Pastor Jeff recently shared, uses his people to encourage our neighbors towards His enduring hope.

We are still chewing on the great meeting we had on Friday regarding serving the families, students and staff at Ferndale Middle. God placed us in that location with Ferndale as our neighbor and we are driven to show love for the city! Whether ESL, mentoring, staff appreciation, tutoring, sports, school-wide activities—there’s a place for you to make a difference and shins light!

We spoke with Green Street Baptist Church & Green Street Missions who wanted to offer a Kids Day for our neighbors and kick off summer with some fun! The Lions Clubs International
will also be there doing FREE kids vision testing with their Kidsight program. Join us Saturday, June 13th, 11am-1pm. We’ll have lunch inside, , bounce house, games and prizes!
