We had a great time at this year’s North Carolina Library Association conference! Our Wine & Cheese event was a success with NC author Libby Hubscher Author, special thanks to Bookmarks for being our on site bookseller. Our Roberts Award for Distinguished Service went to Wayne County Public Library’s Maegan Wilson for her amazing contribution of a resource center for neurodivergent children and their caregivers. Finally, Durham’s Poet Laureate, Poetry Fox, joined us in the exhibit hall to crank out over 50 poems for attendees! See you in Greenville in 2027!

FABULOUS FRIDAY ASHEVILLE CANCELLED The PLS planning committee for Fabulous Friday has had the entire Western NC community, including Asheville, on our minds this week. Given the extent of the damage in Asheville and the surrounding areas, we are unable to responsibly move forward with hosting Fabulous Friday there next week. Once the area has had time to recover, we may be able to consider a possible makeup date, but it definitely won't be this fall/for the foreseeable future. If you we’re registered please check your email for refund information.

CANCELLED: FABULOUS FRIDAY IN DURHAM The planning committee for Fabulous Friday has been monitoring the weather forecast over the past couple of days. The current forecast shows the worst of the wind and rain hitting us during the morning hours when folks would be traveling to the library for the conference. We also have a good number of people who would be traveling from the western region of the state, which appears to be where the storm's impact will be the greatest. For those reasons, we have made the decision to cancel the event in the interest of the safety of our presenters and attendees. The planning committee will discuss possible options for rescheduling.

Catch a free sneak peek of a theater performance at the library before catching the whole show at the local theater! What a fantastic idea from Pack Memorial Library in Asheville. How does your library promote local talent?

Our sneak preview series with Asheville Community Theatre will continue next month. These library performances are a chance for you to see some live acting and musical performances in the library environment for free before these shows debut at ACT.

Our next one should be extra fun. This will take place on Tuesday, November 7th at 6pm in our Lord Auditorium, downstairs at the library.
