The Center for Community Engagement was privileged to attend the YWCA High Point's Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (JEDI) Summit.

The event pushed essential talks about our responsibilities in a racialized society much closer to home. It prompted us to consider the worldwide implications of race, class, culture, and our obligations as High Point residents.

Thank you to YWCA High Point's devoted staff and Steering Committee for tackling genuine issues and providing effective answers. Attendees left feeling motivated and energized, with actionable strategies to better our community.🫂

Executive Director of Growing High Point ✨ Jodi Sarver

Jodi joined the Growing High Point team in 2023, serving as the agency’s third executive director. Inspired by her Leadership Winston-Salem experience, Jodi chose to leave a 20-plus year career in publishing and dive into the nonprofit world at Big Brothers Big Sisters Services as director of agency relations, where she worked prior to joining Capital Development Services, a fundraising consulting firm, as director of client services. In this role, she had the benefit of working with nonprofit organizations throughout the Southeast. Growing up in western Pennsylvania, Jodi graduated from Slippery Rock University as a first-generation college student. She went on to earn her MBA from Gardner-Webb University. She has volunteered extensively and believes that helping people overcome obstacles, whether it’s providing access to healthy food or teaching them to operate an agribusiness, benefits society as a whole.

“Having our students deliver the books and interact with the elementary students is such a meaningful and impactful experience their first semester at HPU,” said Rosemarie Tarara, instructor of health education and director of Education Fellows in HPU’s Stout School of Education. “This is the sixth year that the Education Fellows program has been able to participate in this great tradition at HPU.”
