To the Community,Thank you so much to all who came out to celebrate lighting the Christmas tree and the Hanukkah menorah. And to those who couldn’t join in, we hope you are enjoying the lights ofthe season as you pass or as you stop in wonder and delight at their beauty. The tree is healthier than ever, its branches expanding and its cones hanging heavy. The support of somany of our friends, neighbors and members of the Civic Association contributed to twodoses of medicine for the tree and its recovery. The High Falls Food Co-op kicked off its 50th Anniversary at the Lighting Celebration. Since1976 they have been a cornerstone of High Falls, providing healthy, local foods and organicprovisions for our community. We are grateful to them for their two delicious soups that addedto the perennial offering of the High Falls Cafe –– Buffy and Brian’s classic cream of chickensoup. There are so many people to thank for this annual gathering, I apologize if we have missedanyone: High Falls Volunteer Fire Department that not only provides safety for us year round, but lends us “Santa,” with a sleigh driver, seasonally; Town of Marbletown, especially LouCardinale and his highway crew; The D&H Canal Museum, High Falls Community Church,Ulster County Sheriff’s Department, Johnny on the Spot, GK Tree Service, The Curious Cat,Scott Hornbeck, Marbletown First Aid Unit, Donna Verteil of the Bluestone Press, and membersof the Muse Choir, leader Mariana Barcellos of Voice and Song.Together we have created a time and place to honor each other and to feel warmth andwelcoming in our community. We thank you for the opportunity to be part of that andwish everyone a healthy, happy holiday season and a peaceful, inspiring new year.High Falls Civic Association Members andChristmas Tree and Menorah CommitteeJim Allred, William Collins, Bobbi Esmark, Ginny Redgrave, Don Spiliotis, Jerry Sheehan.
