Have you driven by the Old Main Gate today?

You may have noticed the new fountain (pond aerator) now operating in the pond near the entrance. Visible from Highway 29 and nestled alongside our beautiful golf course, the fountain adds a picturesque touch to one of the community’s most visible locations.

Beyond enhancing the view, the aerator helps improve water circulation and supports the overall health of the pond.

Next time you’re passing by, take a moment to enjoy the new addition!

The sheep are on the move again! 🐑

As we work toward the community-wide w**d abatement deadline of June 30, grazing operations continue throughout Hidden Valley Lake.

Early this morning, crews were out w**d whacking while sheep grazed in designated areas. Today, three truckloads of sheep were loaded at Eagle Rock and transported to the Stinson area behind Meadow View to continue reducing vegetation and helping lower wildfire risk.

As you work on your own property to meet the June 30 deadline, please use caution when w**d whacking. Be mindful of fire danger, avoid creating sparks, and follow all safety recommendations.

Thank you to everyone doing their part to help keep our community safe this fire season.

The Environmental Control Department would like to share a few important reminders as we move into the hottest and driest part of the season.

With temperatures on the rise and fire danger increasing, now is the time to make sure properties are maintained and ready for summer. A community-wide w**d abatement deadline of June 30, 2026 is in effect for all properties throughout Hidden Valley Lake. There is no grace period, and developed lots must be maintained year-round to help reduce fire risk and protect neighboring properties.

As part of HVLA’s ongoing w**d abatement efforts, you may notice the hardworking sheep out grazing on Association-owned lots and open spaces throughout the community. These four-legged landscapers play an important role in reducing vegetation and helping us maintain defensible space in an environmentally friendly way.

Residents are also reminded to:
• Keep grass mowed and maintained
• Avoid parking vehicles in high grass, including along road right-of-ways
• Never park on vacant lots
• Ensure trash can lids are fully closed and not overflowing to help prevent wildlife from scattering trash throughout the community

Please remember that spraying entire yards with herbicides is not permitted. Herbicides are not a substitute for regular mowing and landscape maintenance, and excessive use can impact water quality, damage soil, and create bare dirt areas.

If you’re clearing brush, HVLA offers wood chipping services. To schedule a pickup and review stacking requirements, contact the Environmental Control Department at 707-987-3138 ext. 113.

Thank you for doing your part to help keep Hidden Valley Lake safe, beautiful, and fire-ready this summer!

Join the Hidden Valley Lake Board of Directors next Thursday, June 18th, at 6pm in The Greenview Banquet Room for Coffee with the Board. A casual monthly opportunity to connect directly with Board members in an informal setting.

Whether you have a question about the community, would like to share ideas, learn more about current projects, or simply meet and chat with members of the Board, this is a welcoming space for open conversation. With 2–3 Board members present each month, residents have the opportunity to discuss topics that matter to them, gain a better understanding of community initiatives, and hear updates on what’s happening around Hidden Valley Lake.

No formal agenda, presentations, or speeches… just coffee, conversation, and community connection. We hope you’ll stop by, ask questions, share your perspective, and take part in the discussion. Your voice helps make our community stronger. We look forward to seeing you there!

🚩 RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT 🚩

It’s already shaping up to be a hot day in Hidden Valley Lake, and critical fire weather conditions mean now is the time to prepare. During Red Flag Warning events, hot temperatures, low humidity, and gusty winds can cause fires to spread rapidly.

Take a few minutes today to do an ember check around your home:

• Clear leaves and debris from roofs, gutters, and around your home’s foundation.
• Close windows, garage doors, and pet doors.
• Move potted plants, trash cans, wood piles, outdoor furniture, doormats, and other combustible items away from your home.
• Ensure vents are protected with proper mesh screening.
• Attach garden hoses that can reach all sides of your home.
• Keep your family, pets, and evacuation go-kits ready.
• Make sure vehicles are fueled or fully charged.
• Charge your cell phone and monitor emergency alerts.
• Stay hydrated and keep landscaping watered where appropriate.
• Check on your neighbors, especially those who may need assistance.

Activities to Avoid During a Red Flag Warning:

• Do not use barbecues, fire pits, or any outdoor open flames.
• Avoid using power tools or equipment that may create sparks.
• Do not smoke outdoors.
• Never park or drive in dry grass or vegetation.
• Use extra caution while recreating outdoors.

Remember: Close It. Clear It. Move It.

The small steps you take today can help protect your home, your neighbors, and our community. Stay aware, stay prepared, and report any signs of smoke or fire immediately by calling 911.
