Update: The foot wound has a bacterial infection. Unfortunately it has spread throughout his body. His eye surgery sight has the infection as well now. They are draining the eye sight incision and clearing out both wounds. Sending off a culture to find out exactly what the infection is. He is being put on a stronger antibiotic and more pain meds.

Peanut is at the vet this morning with a 104.7 temperature. He isn’t feeling well at all.

Prevention is our greatest tool in the fight against suffering. ❤️🐾

Every cat who is spayed or neutered today represents countless hardships that will never happen tomorrow. Fewer kittens born into homelessness. Fewer cats struggling to survive outdoors. Fewer animals entering already overcrowded shelters. Fewer heartbreaking decisions for rescuers, caretakers, and families.

It's easy to focus on the emergencies we can see, but some of the most important work happens quietly behind the scenes, preventing those emergencies from happening in the first place.

Every surgery matters. Every cat matters. Every effort to prevent unwanted litters creates a ripple effect that benefits not only individual cats, but entire communities.

Peanuts eye surgery has helped make him feel better but unfortunately the foot wound is not showing much improvement. Peanut spiked another high temperature last night. His foot infection is draining lot which is good but we are syringe feeding him because he won’t eat. He is drinking on his own though. He is the sweetest little guy. Wants to be snuggled and purrs even though he’s in so much pain. He’s on antibiotics and pain meds.

Peanut made it through surgery and is resting back with us now. Thank you to the 3 people who donated towards his surgery cost and took some of the expense off of us. Also thank you to the sweet lady who covered his blood work test at the vet yesterday so we could know he is FeLv & FIV negative.

2 siblings got adopted together yesterday and are already making themselves comfortable in their new home.

The eyes of a rescue worker see so much more than they can ever say. This is the weight often carried in silence—the look of seeing yet another helpless soul in need, and the deep sadness that comes from knowing how much pain exists.
Rescue work isn’t just about happy endings; it's about facing heartbreaking neglect, crowded shelters, and the reality that we can't save them all. It’s a love that often comes with a heavy heart.
If you are a rescuer, a foster, or a supporter, we see you, and we feel this with you. Let’s keep fighting for them together. 🐾💔

Update: He went into emergency surgery this morning at Green’s Creek animal Hospital
Peanut our last intake because I couldn’t stand by and do nothing. He came to us today and is about 10 weeks old. He is on antibiotics but needs the surgery done to remove her eye this week.
That being said he will likely be our last intake ever at the sanctuary. We financially can’t do it anymore. The cost to keep the ones we have fed and cared for is drowning us. We still owe the vet bills for the last kittens we had to take to the vet. We didn’t receive any donations from our last post. I understand no one else decided to take them on, I did. Now we have to make this hard choice so we can try to continue to care for the cats we already have in our care but also my family.
Financially we can not continue.

Handing off free kittens may solve your immediate problem, but too often, it simply passes the problem on to someone else. 😞

One of the most common calls we receive for spay/neuter assistance starts with:
“We rescued this kitten from someone to help them out, but we really can’t afford to get her fixed.”

And sadly, those are just the people who actually reach out for help. Most never do. 😢

If we truly care about cats and kittens and their long-term well-being, we have to think beyond just finding them “a home.” We need to make sure they are going into responsible homes where spay/neuter will absolutely happen. That means taking the time to screen adopters, having an adoption process, and getting mom cat spayed ASAP. ✅

You can safely rehome kittens yourself, but please consider reaching out to a shelter or rescue for guidance on how to do it responsibly and safely.

This crisis is bigger than any one person, rescue, or shelter. We all have to work together to break the cycle and make sure these cats are not continuing to reproduce generation after generation.

👉🏼 Spay/neuter is not just the new owner’s responsibility.
👉🏼 It’s not just the old owner’s responsibility.
👉🏼 It’s not just a rescue’s responsibility.

‼️ It is EVERYONE’S responsibility to make sure it happens. ‼️

Got this from another TNR rescue page. So true!!!!

Many groups of dedicated people doing rescue right! Our focus is spay and neuter. We help the community help each other. We do not allow taking kittens or giving kittens that are not fixed. Why? Well because we trust no one… why? Because the community has taught us they have a long way to go before they understand that they are contributing to the crazy cat overpopulation. Some simply won’t because they don’t believe we have the right to spay or neuter cats because it’s their right. Some believe cats are meant to breed. Some believe their cats should have one or two litters before they are fixed. Some never knew better it’s what their parents taught them. Some think it’s their right to do as they wish with their cat. I could go on but you get the picture. We are here to help, and in doing so we expect the community asking us for help to do it right. Fix them before giving them away. End the cycle so we don’t have to keep sweeping up the mess. We get to pull from our shelter when the community drops them off new batches of sick dying maimed cats and kittens everyday. Yup we have a group of rescues and shelter workers that share EOD or end of day cats that will be euthanized for multiple reasons at a moments notice we have to or try to make room for. We fail more than we succeed.. if that’s not devastating enough we pull cats and kittens from our own page asking for help because they are at their wits end and have no other options. If you think saying no and knowing that a kitten died because you didn’t have room is easy.. think again we are here to rescue and that’s not within our control. What can we do to stop it? FIX THEM! And we are trying but not everyone is listening.. so if you need more of an explanation ask us..
