My personal journey with bull bred dogs began 12 years ago when my husband brought home a pitbull. As a young mother who had three babies under the age of four and one baby on the way....to say I was concerned would be an understatement! Having heard all of the horror stories I asked him if he had lost his mind....but looking in those beautiful eyes I knew we had to keep her. Shortly after she had

her pups she was shot by a rancher close to our home. Heartbroken we sat out to adopt the babies. The runt of the litter was sweet and sassy (and looked like her momma whose name was Sassy) stole my heart and we named her after her momma. Sassy and I sat out to change peoples minds about the breed I once feared. She was the best friend to my girls, protector of us when my husband was away, and the model of this amazing breed! She was my best friend. She started having seizures shortly after we came to Hico in 2005 but with medication she was ok. I would lay on the floor with her when she had one and hold her because they scared her. 2 years later our hearts were shattered when someone stole her from my backyard while I was washing dishes inside my house. My main cause for concern came when I found out that my neighbors 2 doors down had their male Blue Pit stolen the same afternoon. We never saw either of them again...I swore I would never stop looking for her....so everytime I see a black and white female...my heart stops...in reality with her health I know she probably passed soon after she was taken... I know that she knows she was loved and adored....I just hope that she didn't suffer.... The thought of her dying without my love to see her through to the Rainbow Bridge....devastated me. So it has been several years and I am finally in a position to help the breed that I adore. I have rescued and fostered and trained for years. This is the birth of a rescue!
