Action On Hunger AOH Division 11 Nassau County NY Local Charity - Action On Hunger
The Irish were intentionally starved out of their homes and Country. The Irish Immigrant knew hunger as few others ever did.

The HIBERNIAN HUNGER PROJECT helps. No one in this country should want for food. One of our major efforts under the HIBERNIAN HUNGER PROJECT is to help our local food pantries. Or have their children go without the necessary nutrition. As the Irish were forced from their homes due to starvation we feel the plight of all those that are hungry. Imagine having to worry where your child's next meal wi

ll come from or be enough for them to grow on. Every Cent Donated through A.O.H. Division 11 earmarked for the Food Pantry makes it to The Local Pantries. Unlike charities that have only a percentage of your donation make it to where it was intended. We are located in central Nassau county and can arrange pickups if needed contact us. Take a look at our web site for more information. Thank You

Ireland 1845-52. Sidney Osborne: The streets of Galway are more crowded with wretched objects, in the shape of human kind, than any place I ever saw. I can only suppose that the opportunity of begging of the many men earning good wages, and the cheapness of food in the shape of coarse fish, has drawn the masses of nearly naked women and children, who by day choke up every thoroughfare; where they sleep at night no one could tell me.” Taken from The Truth Behind The Irish Famine. 72 paintings, 400 eyewitness quotes...

Scouts BSA Troop 381
COVID-19 COMMUNITY RESPONSE AWARD

THANK YOU SCOUTS - for remembering those less fortunate than ourselves, and helping those at the front line of the 2020 pandemic and the recovery that follows.

Even without any recognition you make an impact.
There are the 12 principles a Scout lives by. Known as the Scout Law:
"A Scout is trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean, and reverent." All leaders must have and live by a set of values.

I am thankful to all the Troop 381 Scouts, and Leaders, for their meaningful and innovative service projects. They honor themselves and show honor to the TR Council living out their scout pledge by helping those in the community during the most turbulent time in modern scouting history.
A well deserved thank you goes to all that went out of their way and kept their scout lessons uppermost in their behavior.

In closing I need to congratulate and thank the parents who taught their child to be helpful, as well they were supportive to the scouts in their endeavors. This is what allowed them to make such a difference in others lives. Now and in the future.

173 years ago “Native Americans raised a huge amount in Food Relief for Ireland at a time when they had very little,” as the British starved the Irish an attempt at genocide.

This gesture is returned with many Irish donating to Navajo Nation for coronavirus relief.

A GoFundMe for Navajo and Hopi families has raised nearly $3 million thanks in large part to Irish and Irish Americans hoping to repay the favor extended by the Choctaw Nation during The Great Hunger.
