π TWO WEEKENDS. ONE PROGRAM. REAL STATEMENT MADE.
The last two weekends told an important story about Catawba Valley Aquatic Club.
Across Senior-level competition and the NC Swimming Age Group State Championships, CVAC athletes stepped onto big stages, raced deep fields, and showed exactly what this program is about β preparation, resilience, and belief.
Different ages.
Different events.
Same standard.
SENIOR-LEVEL PERFORMANCES
Our senior swimmers took on open events against experienced, high-level competition and embraced the challenge.
Daniel Martin raced a demanding lineup across sprint, breaststroke, and IM events, showing versatility and a willingness to compete across multiple disciplines.
Maximus Miller delivered consistent improvement across fly, free, and IM events, demonstrating growth and durability at the senior level.
Grayson Obst stepped up in the 100 Breaststroke, gaining valuable experience and continuing to build his presence in championship-caliber fields.
Hannah Wasson took on one of the toughest schedules of the weekend, including the 1650 Free, showing grit, endurance, and commitment to racing difficult events.
These swims matter. Senior-level racing builds composure, perspective, and confidence β and it showed.
AGE GROUP STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS
One week later, CVAC returned to the deck at the NC Swimming Age Group State Championships with a small roster and a big presence.
Lucy Gott delivered a historic performance, racing eight individual events, breaking team records in all eight, scoring 140.5 of the teamβs 159 points, and consistently standing on the podium against the stateβs best.
Addie Brabandt showed true distance grit, highlighted by a strong move up the field in the 500 Free and confident racing across multiple events.
Ziyu Fan proved to be a true all-around racer, competing across strokes and distances with consistency and toughness.
Vivian Cassell raced with calm confidence, delivering disciplined swims and steady improvement under championship pressure.
Grace Gott, at just nine years old, gained invaluable State Championship experience, racing fearlessly and dropping time against elite competition.
Andres βAJβ Reyes embraced the challenge of the State meet, taking on tough events and showing meaningful growth across the weekend.
Bennett Thornton raced a full eight-event schedule, gaining critical championship experience across strokes and distances.
Jackson Weaver stepped onto the State Championship stage with focus and determination, continuing to build his foundation against top-tier competition.
THE BIGGER PICTURE
Twelve swimmers.
Two weekends.
One standard.
From distance races to sprints, from first-time State Championship swims to senior-level endurance tests, CVAC athletes showed that preparation travels β regardless of age, event, or stage.
Coach Paul and Coach Scott are proud not just of results, but of how these athletes raced, supported one another, and represented the program.
This wasnβt about one swimmer or one meet.
It was about culture, belief, and momentum.
And CVAC is moving forward with all three.
