On top of the challenges of everyday life, communities across Western North Carolina continue to feel the lasting impact of Hurricane Helene.

We were honored to take part in a local health and vision fair in Lake Lure, helping connect individuals and families with access to essential eye care and resources.

Sight-restoring surgery is made possible through the time and expertise of volunteer physicians, nurses, and team members, along with the supplies and resources needed for each procedure.

A single surgery may require a new lens, medications, surgical supplies, and specialized equipment—all working together to help restore vision for someone in need.

For those who choose to support the mission, a $75 donation helps offset the resources needed for one procedure.

Today, we had the opportunity to welcome our partners from the Unifour Lions Club as they spent time with our team and generously served lunch.

By partnering with organizations and initiatives like this, we’re extending the reach of the specialized medical and surgical eye care our physicians and team provide every day.

Together, we’re connecting community vision screenings with advanced ophthalmic care, helping more people receive the right care, at the right time.

PARTNERS IN PRESERVING SIGHT.

We’re grateful for our partnership with the Unifour Lions Club, whose generosity helped provide more than 125 pairs of sunglasses, along with readers and prescription glasses, to patients during our recent mission to Bolivia.

Together, we’re doing more than providing eye care—we’re protecting vision, expanding access, and making a lasting impact.

Thank you, Unifour Lions Club, for sharing in this mission. We look forward to all that’s ahead as we continue serving together.

MONTERO, BOLIVIA

Together, our team served 561 patients, completed 114 sight-restoring surgeries, and provided 100+ warm meals while delivering specialized ophthalmic care and investing in the Montero community.

This year also marked two incredible milestones: welcoming our first optometrist to the mission team since the early 2010s, and performing our first laser procedures after successfully installing a YAG laser for the community.

To every provider, technician, volunteer, donor, and supporter—thank you. Because of you, vision was restored, hope was shared, and lives were changed.

Until next year, Bolivia.

As our second team wrapped up their time in Bolivia, they left a lasting impact in more ways than one.

We shared warm meals with patients who had traveled for hours—even an entire day—to reach our clinic. We spent time with the girls orphanage, playing basketball, sharing music, and providing sunglasses to help protect their eyes during long days outdoors.

One moment, however, captured the heart of the week.

A 7-year-old boy with autism and attention deficit disorder arrived at our clinic. Every member of our team came together to patiently care for him, helping him complete his eye exam, receive his first prescription, choose sunglasses, and leave with a glove buddy lovingly made by one of our pediatric technicians.

It’s moments like these that remind us our mission is about more than restoring sight—it’s about caring deeply for every person who walks through the orange gate.

Week 2 is already making a meaningful impact.

New opportunities to serve have emerged, including care for younger patients – and for the first time since the early 2010s, an optometrist is serving alongside our team.

We’re also celebrating a major milestone: thanks to our first team’s dedication, we secured and installed a YAG laser, allowing us to perform our first laser procedures in Bolivia this week.

Grateful to serve and excited for what’s ahead.

WHAT A WEEK!

As our first team wrapped up their time in Bolivia, they served more than 200 patients, performed 50+ sight-restoring surgeries, and invested time with more than 150 members of the local community.

We are grateful for a team willing to serve with skill, compassion, and purpose. While one group returns home, another is just beginning—and we’re excited to continue the impact in the week ahead.

After an incredible first week of service, we can’t wait to see what this next group accomplishes. Another week of restoring sight, serving with purpose, and building meaningful connections awaits.
