Today marks the International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia & Biphobia — a global call to uphold dignity, equality, and human rights for all. 💛

First observed in 2004, this day honors the 1990 decision to remove homosexuality from the list of mental disorders — and reminds us how far we’ve come, and how far we still have to go.

At its core, this day is about humanity. About recognizing that every person deserves to live freely, safely, and authentically.

Dr. Maya Angelou once said: “We are more alike, my friends, than we are unalike.”

Let that truth guide us — toward compassion, understanding, and respect for one another. 💛

Some good news.

Some good news.

In a stunning victory for equality, Georgia has successfully blocked every single one of the 15 anti-LGBTQ bills that were introduced this legislative session. While many states have been passing restrictive legislation targeting LGBTQ+ individuals, Georgia took a completely different path, demonstrating that organized resistance and sustained public pressure can absolutely work when communities come together to fight back.

This sweeping defeat sends a powerful message of support and acceptance to LGBTQ+ Georgians and serves as a beacon of hope during what has been an incredibly challenging political climate nationwide. The state has proven that progress is still possible, even in regions where such victories seemed unlikely just months ago.

Georgia's success is already building momentum for advocates in other states facing similar legislative battles. When one state shows that complete victory is achievable, it energizes activists everywhere and provides a roadmap for effective resistance. This win proves that the tide can turn, that organized communities have real power, and that defending equality can result in decisive victories that seemed impossible not long ago."

Today, the Texas Supreme Court issued a ruling in Doe v. Abbott and PFLAG v. Abbott, challenging the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services’ mandate to investigate families with transgender children. PFLAG National—together with Lambda Legal, the American Civil Liberties Union, and the ACLU of Texas—issued the following statement:

For more than four years, we successfully blocked DFPS from investigating Texas families based on allegations that they were providing gender-affirming medical care to their transgender adolescents. Today, the Texas Supreme Court issued a purely procedural ruling vacating those injunctions—not because DFPS’s rule requiring these investigations is lawful but because the individual plaintiffs who brought these cases no longer need the injunctions. The Court held that their claims are moot either because DFPS has closed their investigations and has testified that they will not reopen them or because the young people involved are no longer minors and thus DFPS no longer has the authority to investigate their parents.

DFPS argued to the Court that, given that gender-affirming medical care is no longer lawfully provided to minors in Texas, there is no reason for DFPS to conduct future investigations. We will hold them to that.

Any family in Texas that is contacted by DFPS related to gender-affirming medical care should contact the Lambda Legal Help Desk. https://give.pflag.org/s/5418014/LZS6xX1D
