Hickory NC Trout Unlimited Chapter 032

Hickory NC Trout Unlimited Chapter 032 TU works with anglers and hunters all across the country to identify the "best of what's left" and find collaborative ways to protect it. It's simple, really.

There's a visceral connection between intact, healthy habitat and the success anglers can expect afield. Thankfully, we're blessed with some quality habitat on public lands all across the country--this land is the birthright of every American, and keeping it healthy and functional is good for fish and game, as well as those of us who value quality fishing and hunting in some of the most special pl

aces in the nation. TU works with anglers and hunters all across the country to identify the "best of what's left" and find collaborative ways to protect it for today's sportsmen and women and for coming generations of anglers and hunters. In Wyoming, for instance, TU worked with sportsmen and other conservation groups to protect the Wyoming Range from new and unnecessary oil and gas drilling. In New Mexico, we helped protect the priceless Valle Vidal, and the Rio Grande Gorge, and in Montana, TU spearheaded efforts to protect the fabled Rocky Mountain Front. In Idaho and Colorado, TU worked to protect about 13 million acres of healthy backcountry habitat that is absolutely vital to wild and native trout and salmon, as well as irreplaceable deer and elk herds. We continue to work with our conservation partners, state and federal agencies, and elected officials to identify the healthiest fish and game habitat, determine its social and economic value, and use that data to protect it in perpetuity. Our solutions are created from the bottom up, and, in the long run, they simply making fishing and hunting better.

๐ŸŽฃ THE ADAMS & PARACHUTE ADAMS โ€“ TWO DRY FLY LEGENDS

If thereโ€™s one dry fly every trout angler should own, itโ€™s the Adams.

For more than 100 years the Adams has fooled trout around the world. Its simple profile imitates a wide range of mayflies and surface insects, making it one of the most reliable โ€œsearchingโ€ dry flies ever created.

The Parachute Adams takes that legendary pattern a step further, with a highly visible white post and parachute hackle that helps it float beautifully and makes it easier to track in rough water.

๐ŸŽฃ Perfect for:
โœ… Rivers & streams
โœ… Lakes & lagoons
โœ… Mayfly hatches
โœ… Searching unknown water
โœ… Wild brown & rainbow trout

Whether you prefer the classic Adams or the highly visible Parachute Adams, both deserve a permanent place in every fly box.

The Mayfly Project for fostered kids has asked if we would be willing to provide specific nymph and dry fly patterns so that every child in their program can receive their own fly box. These flies are needed by the end of July.
This project is separate from Tie For A Cause and was specifically requested by Wynn Parrish. If you would like to participate, please reach out to Bill Jewett at [email protected] and let him know which fly(s) you would like to tie so we can manage to fill the fly boxes. Bill will keep track of what has already been volunteered.
When you complete your flies, please bring them to the Tie-a-Thon at Patterson School on July 18th if you can. If you are not able to bring them, please contact Bill with your location and we will try to arrange to get them.
The hooks need to be barbless. A good source for them on Amazon is Eupheng fly hooks. There are 11 kids in the program so they need 22 of each fly and size to fill the fly boxes.
