Our Story

The 24th Annual Northstar Children’s Art Camp will be held at Mesaba Park, June 18-21, 2018: “Hands in Clay, Mask on Face”. Twin Cities puppet theatre- “Heart of the Beast” master puppeteer Laurie Witskowski has worked for thirty years throughout Minnesota’s schools and communities helping children create masks and bring them to life. Her wisdom and talent are an outstanding match for our camper’s imagination and energy!

Keastra Anderson will guide campers in making their own clay pinch pots. She has impressed many an artist of North Star Arts Camp at Mesaba Park as camper, leader, and intern. Her superb sense of design and remarkable skills with children are sure to provide a wonderful introduction to the world of clay.

Musician/educators Oscar Forsman, Jake Wiltermuth, and Terrence Smith will use traditional song and dance to keep spirits high and focused. John Latimer, featured naturalist on KAXE radio will again join us for an informative “Walk About”. Arts Camp founder David Bednarczuk, Professor of Music Dorothy Sandess, and a host of volunteers will round out this amazing team to provide an art infused four days of creativity and growth.
