🦌 **Accessible Hunt Mentors Needed!**

Access North is seeking experienced hunters who want to help give someone who may not otherwise have the opportunity to hunt a meaningful hunting experience.

Mentors will:
• Provide support in the blind
• Follow all hunt procedures
• Communicate with hunters to ensure they are prepped and prepared

📅 **Hunt Schedule**
Half Day — Friday, October 23
Full Day — Saturday, October 24

✨ Nominate an Outstanding DSP! ✨

In celebration of National Direct Support Professionals Week, Access North is recognizing the incredible Direct Support Professionals who make a difference in the lives of people with disabilities every day.

🏆 Five exceptional DSPs will each receive a $500 award!

Do you know a DSP who goes above and beyond? We want to hear about them! Nominations may recognize DSPs who demonstrate:

💙 Exceptional relationships with consumers
💙 Compassion and understanding
💙 Support for independence and personal choice
💙 Commitment to developing their skills
💙 Advocacy for people with disabilities and/or older adults

At Access North, DSPs include PCAs, Homemakers, and In-Home & Respite Support staff.

✨ Consumers can nominate their DSPs.
✨ DSPs can self-nominate.
✨ Case managers and other professionals are encouraged to nominate outstanding staff.

📅 Nominations are due September 16, 2026.

Nominations can be submitted online, emailed to [email protected], or turned in at our Hibbing, Duluth, or Brainerd offices. Paper nomination forms are also available.

Please help us recognize the people who make a difference every day, nominate an outstanding DSP today!

Please note: 2025 award recipients are not eligible this year. Winners must be actively working with a consumer.

It is with great sadness that we share the passing of our longtime Board member, Jeff Christian.

Jeff served on the Access North Board of Directors beginning in 2013, and during that time he held every Board officer position and on many committees. His dedication to our mission and commitment to the people we serve made a lasting impact on our organization.

Jeff gave generously of his time, knowledge, and leadership, always working to strengthen Access North and support independent living in our communities. He was instrumental in establishing our accessible deer hunt. His contributions will not be forgotten.

Our thoughts are with Jeff's family, friends, and everyone whose lives he touched.
