The Hibbing Fire Explorers Post #4232 is looking for motivated individuals interested in learning more about firefighting and EMS!

Our Explorers gain hands-on experience through realistic training scenarios, firefighting operations, emergency medical training, and ride-along opportunities while learning directly from local firefighters and paramedics.

No prior experience is necessary!

Meetings: Every other Wednesday from 6:00–8:30 PM.

Wednesday night, Hibbing Fire Explorers Post #4232 got hands-on with several essential fireground skills! 🚒🔥

Explorers worked on:
• Forcible entry techniques
• Search and victim removal drills
• Hose deployments
• Timed hose deployment and victim removal evolutions

The timed drills challenged our Explorers to put their skills together while working efficiently as a team under pressure.

Another great night of hands-on training and building skills for the future! 💪🚒

The Fire Explorers spent the evening training on VEIS (Vent, Enter, Isolate, Search) from the aerial ladder, along with practicing victim removal techniques.

Everyone did a great job working through the different skills and scenarios. It was an awesome night of hands-on training and building confidence in real-world firefighting operations!

Last evening, Hibbing Fire Explorers gained valuable hands-on experience working with fireground survival props. These training props help prepare Explorers to safely navigate challenging situations and obstacles that firefighters may encounter during emergency operations.

Explorers also focused on SCBA management, practicing techniques for working efficiently while wearing and operating their breathing apparatus in challenging environments.

Training like this helps build confidence, problem-solving skills, and a strong foundation in firefighter safety and survival.

Last evening, the Hibbing Fire Explorers had the opportunity to get an in-depth look at HFD’s ambulances by performing a complete rig check and learning about the equipment carried on each unit.

The explorers also spent time practicing airway management skills, ranging from administering nebulizer treatments to learning the fundamentals of advanced airway management and intubation techniques. These hands-on training opportunities continue to build their knowledge and confidence.

A special thank you to Engineer Sallis for taking the time to assist with the training and share his knowledge and experience with our Explorers.

During the previous evening's session, Explorers honed their skills on ladder 1 operations, exploring aerial ladder operations, ground ladder deployment, and an in depth look at ladder company roles and responsibilities.

Today, Fire Explorer Lenny Pistilli participated in our Friday ladder checks with the crew. Lenny has been a member of the Hibbing Fire Explorers for the past two years and has recently started his ride alongs. Lenny continues to demonstrate growth, dedication, and a strong willingness to learn.
