Because of you, hope lives here.
Thank you to all who have donated to Ruby Slipper Goat Rescue during the Hiawatha Community Foundation Match Day event this weekend.
You can still donate until the end of the day today by going to https://www.givebacktomoveforward.com/nonprofits/Ruby-Slipper-Goat-Rescue-Fund
Your generosity allows me to continue caring for goats who have suffered from injury, neglect, congenital disabilities, and trauma — goats who deserve a chance to live safe, happy, and loved lives.
Many people ask why I do what I do… or why rescue goats?
Mona’s story is the perfect example of why.
Mona was rescued in 2018 from a town near Hiawatha, Kansas. When she arrived, she was only 3 months old and weighed less than 8 pounds. She had been injured and starved for nearly three months. Her tiny body was filled with broken bones and severe infection, and she was so malnourished she wasn’t even able to grow horns.
But despite everything she had endured, Mona had a strong will to live.
With love, veterinary care, determination, and a little pink wheelchair, Mona slowly began to heal. What once seemed impossible became reality as she grew stronger each day. Eventually, Mona completely recovered and went on to inspire thousands of people through her kindness, resilience, and her beloved posts.
Mona passed away from cancer in 2024, but she remains the heart and soul of Ruby Slipper Goat Rescue. Her story continues to remind us that healing is possible, that every life matters, and that compassion can change the world — one life at a time.
Your donations make stories like Mona’s possible.
Because of your support, rescued goats receive emergency veterinary care, medications, wheelchairs, prosthetics, shelter, feed, bedding, and the daily love and care they need to survive and thrive.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you for believing in this mission, for supporting the handicapped goats, and for helping me continue Mona’s legacy of hope and healing.
With gratitude,
Lisa
