Play or War?

Today much of the visible church nowadays seems to think Christians are supposed to be at play rather than at war. The idea of actually fighting for "Biblical Truth" is the furthest thing from most churchgoers' thoughts.

Some Christians/Churches are determined to get the world to like them—and of course in the process they also want to have as much fun as possible. They are so obsessed with making the church seem 'cool' to unbelievers that they can't be bothered with questions about whether a person is saved or not. In a climate like this, the thought of even identifying someone's belief or faith foundation is seen at times as distasteful and dangerously countercultural. We have to realize we are at war and we live in an age of Laodicea!

"‭And do this, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep; for now our salvation is nearer than when we first believed" (Romans 13:11).

The Eclipse, A Biblical View

"God created two large luminaries and held the day with a large luminaries, held the night with a small luminaries, and made the stars." God put them in the ends of the sky and let them shine" (Genesis 1:16-17)

God made the sun and the moon to 'shine the earth'. The sun is an organism that illuminates by itself, but the moon does not have its own light and transmits light by reflecting the light of the sun. It reminds me of how the 'light of God' shines on the world through an entity called 'church'.

The lunar eclipse is the darkness that comes when the moon is in the place of the sun. Even if the moon covers the sun, the moon cannot do what God has created, and the world is covered in darkness without light.

God warns Eve who sinned: “Your desire
be your husband, but he will rule over you”(Gen 3:16b). A warning that the church will endlessly covet the seat of Christ as the husband. No one is free from such temptations!

Jesus Christ said, "The Son can do nothing of himself without seeing what the Father does. For whatever the Father does, the Son does like him." (John 5:19b). He was willing to take on the humbling role of shining his Father's light.

Am I or you shining the light of God in the world today? Or are you hiding the light and bringing darkness to the world?

In Wrath Remember Mercy

The curse of ‘thorns and thistles’ that God pronounced on Adam for eating the forbidden fruit was fashioned as a ‘crown’ on Jesus’ head when He died, cursed of God (Matthew 27).

The curse of ‘labor pangs’ that God pronounced on Eve was the pain that Jesus felt in Gethsemane, when He was sweating blood as He labored to give birth to the Church and when His side was pierced on the cross.

The curse of ‘sword’ that would never depart from David’s house for taking Uriah’s wife ultimately fell on Jesus, the Son of David, a descendant of Uriah’s wife.

The curse of being ‘cut off’ from the Promised Land for disobeying God ultimately fell on Jesus, who was ‘cut off’ from the Land of the Living in an act of obedience to God.

This is the meaning of “in wrath, remember mercy”(Hab 3:2).

Without Jesus, God’s curse remains a ‘curse’.

But with Jesus, God’s curse turns into ‘mercy’. Today will you accept God’s mercy by coming to Jesus through repentance. It is not to late. Romans 10:9-10.

Political Opinion

I have a heard all of the various arguments for being involved in politics. If you want to vote, go vote! It truly is between you and the Lord. However, the bigger issue is that the political landscape has spilled over into the Church! I hear leaders in the church say only Jesus can save America, and in the next breath condem anyone who vote in opposition or has a different opinion. See a problem?

It's of my opinion, without proof texting from scripture, to find the appropriate verse(s) to fit my narrative. The world and all of its systems lies in the power of the wicked one (I John 5:19). God elects leaders! Even liberal ones! God gives nations the leaders they deserve. There are no stolen elections, because you cannot steal God's vote! To think otherwise is foolishness.

This is to say Jesus did not try to change the political landscape of Rome. Why are we as believers trying to change the political landscape of America? You cannot involve the church in the state and vice versa. It doesn't matter if something conflicts with the will of the people. It matters if it conflicts with the will of God! Man cannot thwart God's will. Again, if you vote, vote. Leaders in the church don't stand in the pulpit and pontificate why or why it isn't important and don't use the talking points of Romans 13, etc. There is a place for politics, and it is NOT in the true Church of Jesus Christ!

I am looking for the Lord's appearing (II Timothy 4:8) that is where my reward is. I am not looking for DeSantis, Trump or anyone else! Because at the end of the day, it won't matter what your political position was as a Christian (Genesis 19:1-38). Evil will have its way until the Lord returns! "See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil" (Ephesians 5:15‭-‬16).

Oh, and as a novel idea, preach the gospel of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, after all that is what people need most!

God is Not Finished Yet!

The Lord is not done with us. You see when we die our Spirit immediately goes to be with Lord (Ecclesiastes 12:7), but the body goes into the grave to await the resurrection. At the fall, when Adam sinned against God (Genesis 3), he died immediately in his spirit, progressively in his soul and ultimately his body.

When the Lord redeemed us this was put in reverse! We are justified immediately by faith (Romans 5:1). Sanctified progressively in the soul (Hebrews 10:10) and glorified ultimately in the body (Phillipians 3:21). You see our bodies will not be left in the grave, we are coming out of the grave, some on to eternal life and others to eternal condemnation (Daniel 12:2). God made everything out of nothing, don't think for a moment he can't raise you and I out of something!

"Being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ" (Phillipians 1:6).

The Lord our God is not finished with you and me yet!
