Colon cancer rates are rising—and it’s something we can’t ignore.

📊 Did you know:
• Colore**al cancer is now one of the leading causes of cancer-related deaths in the U.S.
• Cases are increasing in younger adults, even those under 50
• 1 in 24 people will be diagnosed in their lifetime
• When caught early, the survival rate is over 90%

Early detection saves lives—but too many people are waiting too long to get screened.

If you’re 45 or older—or younger with risk factors—talk to your doctor about screening. It could save your life.

💙 Share this to spread awareness. One conversation could make all the difference.

Since being founded in December 2022, the Tell5Friends Foundation has been committed to making a meaningful impact in the fight against colore**al cancer 💙

✨ Here’s what we’ve accomplished together so far:
• Over $20,000 in gift cards provided to local cancer patients to help ease financial burdens during treatment
• Proud supporters of the “I Know Jack” backpacks, offering comfort and essentials to patients beginning their cancer journey
• More than $5,000 contributed to colore**al cancer research

🌟 And we’re just getting started…
In the coming year, we are excited to introduce two $1,000 scholarships family members of someone affected by colore**al cancer—because supporting families matters too.

Thank you to everyone who has supported our mission to raise awareness, encourage early screening, and care for those impacted. Together, we are making a difference—one conversation, one screening, and one life at a time.

Colon cancer rates are skyrocketing in young adults. Symptoms to be aware of and discuss with your doctor:

-Re**al bleeding. Almost half of young people with colon cancer have re**al bleeding. Blood in your stool or on toilet paper may be a sign.
-Stomach pain or cramping that doesn't go away.
-Changes in bowel habits, such as new or lasting constipation or diarrhea.
-Feeling very tired or weak, which may be caused by low iron.
-Weight loss without trying.
-Bloating or feeling full soon after eating.
-Nausea or vomiting.

This condition is on the rise among people younger than 50. Knowing the risks and warning signs can help you catch it early and take action.

For today’s Medical Monday post, The Gloria Borges WunderGlo Foundation proudly shares the incredible work and achievements of WunderGlo Director Dr. Heinz-Josef Lenz that was posted earlier this month.

Congratulations to Dr. Heinz-Josef Lenz, Deputy Director for Research Programs at USC Norris and Professor of Medicine and Cancer Biology at the Keck School of Medicine of USC, who provided a presentation at the American Society of Clinical Oncology annual meeting.

At this meeting, he provided expanded data from the CheckMate clinical trial, a practice-changing trial that led to the FDA approving a new first line combination therapy for patients with microsatellite instability-high/DNA mismatch repair colore**al cancer.

Dr. Lenz is a caring, generous and brilliant clinician and oncologist who WunderGlo is both proud and grateful to have on our Team! We thank him for his dedication to research and WunderGlo's Mission as co-founder of The Wunder Project to move colore**al cancer treatment discoveries forward ultimately to "the cure". As USC/Keck's aims to Make Cancer a Disease of the Past, together with WunderGlo we fight on and say: "Cancer Your Time is Up"!

Had a great visit to Mayo 10 days ago. It was my 4th set of scans since my last surgery. They showed once again that the little spot I have they believe is still inflammation. More importantly it has started to shrink a little bit.

I’m incredibly grateful to be able to start to live my life again normally. It could all change in one scan and that will be a constant worry for the next 4 years, but we are moving in the right direction. If I have another set of good scans in January I’ll even get to go to 4 month intervals in my scans.

I have no big plans coming up but I’ll continue to run, play pickleball, work hard, and enjoy what comes. I’m working on a few things. I’d really like to do a 1 day car to car ascent of Mt. Ranier( 18 hour round trip). If anyone is interested and wants to do that must be in legit shape and willing to learn a few climbing techniques! I’ll be doing Rim to Rim to Rim next November in the Grand Canyon and can’t wait for that. My buddy Carita Wegner and I will be going on our second adventure! I just try to keep up with that one and her zest for life😀😂

Colon cancer continues to kill way too many of my friends. We need a cure! The best way to help yourself is to get a Colonoscopy. If you can’t do it use Cologuard. Do something please if you’re over 45 or having symptoms (blood in stool, hemeroids, cramps, IBS). If you or a loved one have these symptoms no matter the age demand a Colonoscopy. I’ve seen two 18 year olds in my Stage 4 group in the last month. It’s earlier and earlier…

The why is becoming clearer as well. Red Meat and processed meat are major problems. The new research is starting to be definitive on processed food as well. This is one thing we could all come together on politically we need to pressure big food companies to go to the European standard. They make Oreos and Doritos much different across the pond and can do it hear but they care more about a little more in profit then keeping us healthy. Let’s demand better for us and our kids!!

Have a great day and always Tell5friends my story! Save your friends life💙💙💙

Some fun pics from that last surgery… the first one was a drawing from my surgeon and he said ooh this will hurt then walked out. The spot was next to nerve bundle he knew would fry as well. That’s the problem still. His drawing was classic as well. The one pic is me giving some love to I know Jack before surgery and then the aftermath. That surgeon was right severe pain after that one.

Damn let’s hope no more drawings of surgery. I did think about making that drawing a lot more funny not gonna lie…😂😂
