Lions Host Local Wildfire Prevention Experts

During the August 26 meeting at the Anderson Music Hall lobby, the Towns County Lions were blessed and fortunate to host 4 speakers from the Towns County Firewise Citizens Coalition to present and discuss the Firewise USA program, residents reducing wildfire risks, which is affiliated with the National Fire Protection Association.
Michael Courey, Frank Riley, and Mark and Stephanie Wiles each gave compelling and comprehensive data and statistics about basic recommendations for homeowners to prepare and protect their residences against the ever present danger of wildfires. All 4 speakers each clearly identified ways in which local residents can be proactive to avoid, mitigate and reduce wildfire risk such as possible home ignition zones, landscaping and maintenance measures, roofing and vents innovations, decks and porches construction, siding and windows options, emergency responder access, disaster plans, and annual insurance checkups. Please visit the Firewise.org website for more details.

With the Fairgrounds concert schedule set to shift to an even higher gear for the final quarter of the year, it’s a good time to encourage and remind the performance patrons in attendance to consider purchasing the 2025 season Autographed Guitar Raffle tickets for the drawing of the winning ticket for the prized guitar which will be during the last concert of the year.
