Project #8 of Ivy ’08 Day showcased the power of service through the hearts and hands of our Ivy Rosettes.

The Ivy Rosettes participated in a meaningful Day of Service, supporting both animal welfare and individuals in need across our community. Our 9th-grade participants donated pet food, toys, towels, and other essential supplies to the Broward County Animal Care & Adoption Center, including decorated donation buckets and a wagon filled with dog food. Meanwhile, our 10th- and 12th-grade participants volunteered at Lotus House, where they donated more than 120 care packets, contributed toiletries, and assisted with lunch distribution.

Through acts of kindness, compassion, and service, these young ladies demonstrated outstanding leadership and a commitment to making a difference in the lives of others. We are incredibly proud of our Ivy Rosettes for embodying the spirit of service and helping to create positive change in our communities.

Project #7 of Ivy 08 Day focused on promoting health, wellness, and saving lives through blood donation.💗🩸

The Ivy Health Committee hosted a community blood drive in partnership with OneBlood and The Church of the Incarnation. Of the 44 individuals who attempted to donate, 21 successfully donated blood. Since one pint of blood can help up to three people, these donations have the potential to impact as many as 63 individuals in need of blood or blood products during a medical crisis.

We extend our heartfelt appreciation to our community partners, OneBlood and The Church of the Incarnation, as well as the many donors, supporters, Divine Nine members, community residents, Ivy Rosettes, and sorority members from various chapters who came together in service. It was inspiring to witness the fellowship, unity, and commitment to helping others throughout the day.

Together, we are making a difference—one donation, one life, and one act of service at a time.

Project #4 of Ivy 08 Day focused on Building Our Economic Wealth through financial literacy, education, and empowerment.💰

Community members participated in engaging sessions centered on mindset and credit, community and legacy building, and homeownership, assets, action, and advocacy. Through interactive discussions, activities, and a Q&A session, attendees gained practical tools to help build generational wealth, strengthen financial decision-making, and create a roadmap toward long-term economic success.

We extend our sincere appreciation to our presenters and partners: Lashawnty T. Howard of the Lashawnty T. Howard Youth Offender Center, Sarai Colindres-Corea of Dade County Federal Credit Union, Fernando Lennon of FL Motivational Services LLC, Irene Moore-Cooper of A Teacher’s Seed Tutorial and Educational Support Services, Lincoln Gardens, and Philip Tavernier of Related Group.

Together, we are equipping our communities with the knowledge and resources needed to build a stronger financial future.

Project #3 of Ivy 08 Day focused on empowering our community through civic engagement and voter education.

Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated® Gamma Zeta Omega Chapter partnered with Uplift Our Local Community, Build Our Economic Wealth, and the Miami-Dade County Supervisor of Elections Office to help residents access valuable voter resources and information.

From community outreach in Miami Gardens to voter education efforts in Brownsville, approximately 120 households and residents were impacted through voter registration assistance, vote-by-mail enrollment, signature updates, and education about the 2026 election cycle.

When communities are informed, engaged, and empowered, we all move forward together.

We are honored to see Project #1 of our Ivy ’08 Day of Service highlighted by CBS News Miami. What began as a community beautification effort became a powerful demonstration of what can happen when community partners unite to serve.

Together, volunteers and partners helped transform the home of a 96-year-old veteran while demonstrating the power of service, collaboration, and community impact.

We are proud to collaborate with community leaders and organizations throughout our Ivy 08 initiatives, including Congresswoman Frederica S. Wilson, Councilwoman Katrina Wilson, Greater Miami Service Corps, The Church of the Incarnation, Cool Church, Brasfield & Gorrie, Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc., OneBlood, the Miami Gardens Chamber of Commerce, Andrew Williams, Esq., and many other valued community partners whose support helps make our service efforts possible.

Thank you to everyone who continues to help us make a lasting difference throughout Miami-Dade County.
