It is with deep regret that the Hi-Nella Police Department announces the passing of retired Chief Dominic Palese. Chief Palese retired in 2013 completing 44 years in law enforcement between the Delaware River Port Authority and the Hi-Nella Police Department serving 32 years as chief. Our condolences are extended to the family. Funeral arrangements are as follows:

Governor Mikie Sherrill has declared a State of Emergency for the State of New Jersey in anticipation of an approaching winter storm. The storm is forecasted to bring heavy snowfall late Sunday afternoon/evening into Monday morning.

Residents are strongly urged to limit non-essential travel to allow road crews to safely and efficiently clear snow and to ensure that emergency vehicles are able to respond without delay.

Residents are encouraged to monitor local weather forecasts and official communications for continued updates. Residents must also remove vehicles from local roads to aid in plowing operations.

The State of Emergency will take effect at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 24, 2026, as New Jersey prepares for potentially hazardous weather conditions.

Residents are encouraged to monitor local weather forecasts and official communications for continued updates. Residents must also remove vehicles from local roads to aid in plowing operations.
