How about a Library Road Trip this summer?

Heyworth Public Library is part of the 3rd Annual Read, Eat, Play Library Road Trip. This is a great way to explore other libraries in Illinois as well as eateries, shops, and parks to be discovered along the way.

Congratulations to Bristol Schieler for spotting the Library's Eagle at First State Bank & Trust last week! We discovered this morning that it has flown to another location. Where, oh where, could it be? If you spot it, be sure to come to the Library and let us know!

We're celebrating America's 250th this summer! Beginning May 18, keep an eye out for the Library’s eagle as it travels to a different local business each Monday. If you spot the eagle, stop by the Library, tell us where you found it, and enter your name into that week’s prize drawing.

Weekly winners will be drawn each Friday afternoon through June 12 and will receive a small prize, and all four winners will be entered into a grand prize drawing to win the eagle itself! The grand prize drawing will take place before the Freedom Sings U.S.A. concert at the American Legion on June 18 at 7 p.m.

Pretty accurate. 🤣 The fun starts June 1!

May 19, 6:00 p.m. – Hear the story of Army Captain David Henard at the Library

As part of our upcoming summer reading program and in conjunction with America’s 250th, we are hosting a series of talks at the Library entitled “Voices of Valor”. The stories and reflections of veterans will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 21, May 19, and June 2.

Hear the story of Army Captain David Henard on May 19 at 6:00 p.m. He served in Viet Nam during the Tet Offensive as a Huey helicopter pilot. David also authored the book "Stolen Victory" about one of the largest escalations of the fight in Viet Nam.

Thank you to Cindy Rustemeyer and Sue Lichty for organizing these events.
