The West Milford Township's Memorial Day ceremony will proceed as planned beginning as close to 10:00am as we can. We also plan on stepping off for the procession from Veterans Memorial Park down to the American Legion on Lincoln Ave as soon as we can after the ceremony. We understand that this may not be the most favorable decision to everyone, but the ceremony is about honoring and remembering those who paid the ultimate sacrifice in order for all of us to enjoy the freedoms that we all cherish and sometimes take for granted. We know that our amazing community will still come out and stand with all of us as we continue to honor that true meaning of Memorial Day!

Last night, at the West Milford Township Council Meeting, members from our post received two proclamations from Council President Dave Marsden. Jr Vice Commander Mike Dotson received the 2026 VFW Buddy Poppy Proclamation and our 2026 Day-of-Service coordinator, or Tip of the Spear as I like to call him, Scott Card received the 2026 Memorial Day Proclamation. It’s truly great living in this amazing township! Thank you to all who were present and we hope to see you all out there on Monday, Memorial Day, where we honor all those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice!

On Monday, May 25th, 2026, we will be honoring all those that paid the ultimate sacrifice in the name of the freedoms that we all enjoy each and every day. Please join us as we remember them at West Milford's 82nd Annual Memorial Day Ceremony at Veterans' Memorial Park near Town Hall. The ceremony will begin at 10:00am with the procession stepping off shortly after the completion of the ceremony. Music will be provided by the West Milford High School Highlander band, along with their Pipes and Drum Corps. Lunch will be provided by the American Legion Post 289 at the end of the procession. On Sunday, May 17th, between 8:00am and 2:00pm, we will be conducting a Fill-a-Humvee food drive to support the St. Joseph's Church food pantry and the Upper Greenwood Lake Giving Pantry. We will have our humvee park out front of St. Joseph's Church during this time. Please support our community with a donation of non-perishable food items and help those in need. Thank you in advance.

Hello everyone, we are hosting a Blood Drive at our post on April 20th, 2026 between 3:30pm and 6:30pm. The post is located at 814 Warwick Turnpike, Hewitt, NJ 07421, or as they say around here "up the mountain". Please check out the website and sign up, and yes, walk-ins are always welcome.

Honored to be receiving this on behalf of the UGL Giving Pantry. It’s a great program that we are grateful to be a part of! We are amazed at the generosity of all of our fellow neighbors and friends who are always looking to help one another. Thank you to Marilyn Lichtenberg for this gracious act of generosity and the West Milford Rotary Club for all the work that they do!!

We are incredibly proud to continue celebrating the spirit of giving. Rotarian of the Month, Marilyn Lichtenberg, has nominated The Upper Greenwood Lake Giving Pantry as the recipient of this month’s Rotary Club donation.

The Giving Pantry provides a vital lifeline to our neighbors, ensuring that no one in our community goes hungry. This wonderful initiative is sponsored by the VFW Post 7198, proving that when local organizations join forces, we can make a massive impact.

What a great day for West Milford VFW Post 7198, as we celebrated our 75th Anniversary this weekend. We were honored to have the NJ Department Commander Yvonne Zirrith present us with our certificate from National along with our All-American certificate, streamer, and pennant(something new) that we achieved under PSC Luddie Austin. The post in turn presented the State Commander with our very first challenge coin commemorating this significant event of achieving 75 years of continued service to our Veterans and community. We also received a Proclamation from West Milford Mayor, Michele Dale and the governing body diring a recent township council meeting, recognizing our 75 years to service and dedication to the West Milford Township community.
