NO FOOD GOES TO WASTE PROGRAM; Our no food goes to waste program was established when High Desert Second Chance realized the amount of non-edible for human consumption supplies being thrown into dumpsters. Knowing that there were livestock owners, ranchers and local farmers who depend on supplies such as these to keep their livestock fed we began reaching out to our animal community to begin recycling any and all non-edible for human consumption fruits and veggies to our farming community. Not only is this a huge benefit to our farming community but the impact on our environment by reverting items destined for landfills to be recycled cuts down on our carbon foot print.

Yesterday began another fantastic weekend of community, teamwork, and giving back!

High Desert Second Chance was proud to participate for the third consecutive year in A Better Way/Victor Valley Domestic Violence's Miniature Golf Tournament at Scandia. This annual fundraiser supports an organization that provides critical services and hope to individuals and families affected by domestic violence.

Our incredible volunteer team arrived ready to have fun, embrace a little friendly competition, and support a cause that truly matters. Dressed as superheroes, they certainly lived up to the theme, earning Best Costume and an impressive 3rd Place finish in the tournament!

A special thank you to Olivia, Lisa, Liz, April, Anna, and Vincent. Your unwavering dedication, generous spirit, and willingness to serve at both High Desert Second Chance events and our community partners' activities make a lasting difference. You are the true definition of Super Volunteers!

Congratulations to A Better Way on hosting another outstanding event. Thank you for the life-changing work you do every day. High Desert Second Chance is honored to stand beside you as we continue building a stronger, safer community together.

High Desert Second Chance Selected for Historic America 250 Celebration

High Desert Second Chance is proud to announce that we have been selected as one of only 250 organizations nationwide to receive a special America 250 commemorative truckload of food through JustServe and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints as part of the celebration of the 250th Anniversary of the United States of America.

This nationwide initiative honors organizations dedicated to strengthening their communities through service and volunteerism. Across the country, 250 truckloads of food are being donated to help expand access to nutritious food while celebrating America's legacy of compassion, generosity, and unity.

For High Desert Second Chance, this recognition represents far more than a truckload of foodโ€”it represents the unwavering commitment of our volunteers, community partners, donors, sponsors, and supporters who make our mission possible every day. Together, we continue to provide hope through emergency food assistance, nutrition education, health initiatives, senior and veteran services, youth programs, and collaborative partnerships that strengthen communities throughout the High Desert.

To commemorate this historic recognition, High Desert Second Chance will host a Ribbon Cutting Celebration on Tuesday, July 14, welcoming community leaders, nonprofit partners, elected officials, volunteers, and residents to celebrate this milestone together.

WE WILL BE CLOSED TO THE PUBLIC AND SERVICES ON THIS DAY.

We are deeply honored to represent the High Desert in this national celebration and extend our heartfelt gratitude to JustServe, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and every individual and organization that continues to invest in our community.

As America celebrates 250 years of freedom, we celebrate what can be accomplished when neighbors come together to serve one another. Together, we are building healthier communities through hope, access, and collaboration.

Tomorrow, Wednesday June 10th, Feeding America Riverside San Bernardino Counties, arrives at High Desert Second Chance for its Senior Mobile Pantry food distribution program.

Beginning at 9 a.m. and ending at 11 a.m.(or earlier if supplies run out), High Desert Second Chance will assist Feeding America in distributing the food boxes to the first 250 attendees.

Please note that Feeding America is limiting the supplies to 250, so a "first come, first serve" will be in effect.

Although the program focuses on the senior population, no one of any age will be denied.

Entrance to our parking is at the gate on Chestnut St.

If you drive into our structure from Smoke Tree, you will be redirected.

No one will be admitted into the parking lot until our gate opens at 9 a.m.

We anticipate heavy vehicle traffic and our parking is confined, so we ask that each person driving into our parking lot adhere to the traffic controls that will be in place. You must park where you are directed to keep the traffic flowing smoothly.
