We are looking for teens who want to make a difference in their community to start a Perquimans County 4-H Teen Council! This Council is for ages 13-18. Youth would serve in an advisory role for 4-H programs, plan their own events and much more! The 4-H Teen County Council is the county 4-H leadership organization for teen 4-H club members. Its purpose is to help teen 4-Hers develop leadership skills, while helping to build a strong county 4-H program. Teens from all county clubs are encouraged to participate. A typical meeting includes a short business meeting and program such as team-building, leadership, and games.

Teens who join 4-H County Council have the opportunity to:

Develop vital life and leadership skills
Build new friendships and deepen existing ones
Experience what it’s like to be part of an active governing body
Take on roles and responsibilities that stand out on college applications
Travel to district, statewide, and national retreats and leadership conferences
Have a say in future 4-H programming and activities
Participate in unique field trips designed just for them

We are kicking off National 4-H Week by inviting everyone to wear green today! Wearing green today is a simple way to show your support of 4-H! Additionally, in honor of National 4-H week we would love to hear some of your favorite 4-H experiences! Please comment below and share your favorite 4-H memory! We are sharing some photos from our 4-H summer activities to highlight the fun we had with 4-H so far this year!

Don't forget to enter the 4-H Pumpkin Decorating Contest! We are so excited to Partner with Perquimans County Library on this event! You can find the details and the link to register below!
There will be prizes for the winner of each age division. Pumpkins must be dropped off at the Perquimans County Library on October 23rd by 3pm. The winners will be chosen by community voting at the library with winners announced on October 30th. The pumpkins will be on display for viewing and voting October 26th-29th during normal library businesshours. Perquimans County 4-H club, Hearts and Hooves is doing a fundraiser to support their participation in district, state, and national 4-H horse competitions! We are taking a Fall Field Trip to Brothers Farm Market! This is the perfect way to celebrate Fall by enjoying autumn themed activities! Monday October 19th is a teacher workday for Perquimans County schools, so this is a great opportunity for Perquimans county youth to get outside and enjoy the pumpkin patch!
This field trip will be October 19th. Drop off will be at the Perquimans County Cooperative Extension office at 9:20am and pick up at 1:30pm. Please pack a bagged lunch as we will enjoy a picnic while there. This program is for youth ages 8-12. The cost of this field trip is $13 and includes a pumpkin, hayrides, corn maze, farm animals to meet and pet, play areas, a barrel train ride and more! Payment is due no later than Monday October 12th, you must pay in order to secure your spot. It's time to order your Christmas Wreaths! When you purchase one of these wonderful hand made Fraser Fir wreaths you are not only gaining a beautiful decoration for your home, you are supporting Perquimans County 4-H and our programs! This fundraiser provides funding for camp, summer programs, 4-H competitions and much more! These wreaths are made by Pardue Tree Farm in the North Carolina Mountains. We had some amazing youth showing chickens today at the 2026 Perquimans County 4-H Chicken Show! We are so proud of all of these youth! These kids worked hard preparing for this event and it showed! Our judge was so impressed with everyone. Special congratulations to Evan Meads for winning Best in Show and Salter Shoaf for winning the Showmanship category! We would also like to thank Mason Lawrence for being our judge!
