Our club just placed a second bench at the Hershey Public Library made from recycled plastic bags and film. Overall, we placed 9 benches around our town with help from all our local, individual recyclers. We encourage residents to continue to take plastic bags and other plastic film to local groceries for recycling and to keep it out of landfills.

It may be cold outside, but our club was warm in the Hershey Volunteer Fire Company this week as we presented our annual Citizenship & Patriotism awards. Our honorees included these fine individuals:

Educator - Nora Hollobaugh
Police officer - Detective David Rode
Fire Fighter - Rodney Sonderman (virtual)

We thank them all for their excellence in service.

We regret to inform our community that we will cease plastic film collections at the Hershey Public Library after February 2, 2026. The Trex Company that recycles the plastics has discontinued issuing benches in return for the collections. You can still recycle your plastic bags and film at most local grocery stores including Giant Foods. The plastics we collected were dropped off at the grocery stores for central pickup to Trex. We encourage everyone to continue recycling there and thank everyone for their past support of this project. We placed numerous benches around town and collectively helped to keep plastics out of landfills.

Most people drive by and see the outside of the Santa House. Here is a picture of the inside. The big guy in red has traveled back North along with Mrs. Claus. It takes a lot of volunteers to host Santa at the square. The Palmyra Area Lions would like to thank the Palmyra Rotary, Palmyra Garden Club, friends and family for helping to provide their assistance this year. A chance to put smiles on the children's and parents make it all worthwhile. Thank you all that helped support the Santa House. If interested in helping our group of elves, drop the Palmyra Lions a line and someone will get back to thank you. Happy New Year!
