Navajo Rugs: A Connection to Mount Gretna.
🗓️Wednesday, August 19 | 6:00pm - 7:30pm

Presented by Don “Stone” Kensinger, author of “Weaving Passions”.

Eleven hundred miles separate the Navajo Reservation from Mount Gretna, PA. Despite this vast distance, numerous Navajo rugs have migrated to Mount Gretna. Copies of his book will be available for purchase after the presentation—and HHC members get a 10% discount!

Did you know: Donating blood is a simple yet profoundly impactful act that can save countless lives. Each donation has the potential to help multiple patients in need, as blood is divided into components like red cells, plasma, and platelets, each serving different medical purposes. Emergencies, surgeries, cancer treatments, and chronic illnesses often require transfusions, making regular blood donations essential to maintaining an adequate supply. The process is safe, quick, and relatively painless, taking only about an hour of your time. By giving blood, you contribute to a vital community resource, offering hope and healing to those in dire need. So, consider rolling up your sleeve and becoming a life-saving hero at blood drive on August 21st.

On Saturday, July 4, 2026, America will mark its 250th birthday, and there are big plans underway for a loud, exuberant commemoration taking place across the country. Rather than the booming explosions of public fireworks and ceremonial cannons, listen for the resonant chorus of church, cathedral, and school bells at exactly 2:50pm. 🔔🔔🔔Carillons and bells across the country will peal 13 times, a homage to the first American colonies. Wherever you are, please take a short break to listen out for bells ringing. When you hear their sound, pause for a moment to appreciate our unique history and our country’s storied beginnings. Count each chime with gratitude. Better yet, find a bell of your own and ring it with pride.

Here at the Hershey History Center, we’ve got a bell of our own to ring. It’s a relic from an old trolley that we aim to dust off, polish, and ring with gusto. If you’re in the neighborhood that day, please stop by.
